Sure, it's safe enough to walk the streets here. The problem is unmitigated corruption, nepotism and kleptocracy.
That’s too bad. Over here the democrats have been crushed and are disabled.

Something both sides like to forget, without a 60 vote majority in the Senate no President truly has an obstacle free path to doing anything and that's not all a bad thing but it is something that has been overly abused to bring Congress to a virtual standstill aside from using reconciliation which is a cheat and doesn't truly fix issues permanently. Even before the next Congress is seated, we have seen something happen under pressure from Trump that is a positive for us the people, Bills being broken up into single or limited issue bite sized pieces. Forcing Congress to vote on real issues that are not bloated with pork or filled with poison pills intentionally. Along with term limits this is something we need to force onto Congress limited scope legistlation. What am I missing? Trump and Republicans hold power in:
Executive branch
Senate
House of Representatives
Supreme Court
Trump's hand-picked appointees at the head of every major institution, including the Treasury, Homeland Security, Energy, Defense, and the DOJ, CIA & FBI.
Plus you have these two guys from India and South Africa - also hand-picked by Trump - running the MAGA show in earnest behind the scenes, pulling the strings, guiding Trump along the way.

Yet somehow you'll undoubtedly find a way to blame the Democratic Party if things go south. Duly noted.
Reality keyboard warriors.
all talk.I'd happily move back. It would be tough to pick up and leave at this point. It's also difficult to imagine rebuilding from scratch in my mid fifties. But I'd happily return and live in the States. We'll see how things shake out next few years.
none of the rest of us "chuckled".Surely this was meant as a joke, Zona, given how absolutely bonkers Trump & his supporters went four years ago. That was anything but a peaceful transfer of power. I chuckled, for whatever it's worth.
I do appreciate your even-handed manner when it comes to politics, and this board. I too hope things happen these next four years that benefit the nation, and all Americans.
yet you agreed, wholecommieheartedly with this:Peaceful political rallies and demonstrations are as American as apple pie. Nothing wrong with that.
When things cross the line, as with the BLM protests a few years ago, and the malicious Jan 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol incited by the former President, is when there is a major problem. And on Jan 6th, we clearly disagree, Zona. If that was a marauding mob of lefty BLM-type protestors storming the Capitol, calling for the death of the VP, I'm 100% sure MAGAs would have called for National Guard to mow them down without hesitation.
Such tired, boring rhetoric... like a broken record, Booted. Tell that to the nearly six million Americans living and working abroad, and very much voting(!) as overseas voters. Find a new strawman, this is weak sh*t. Born and raised in California, I'm an American now and forevermore. And yeah, I love living and working in Europe, traveling all over, seeing the world. That will never diminish my love of country, the greatest nation on earth.
Regarding Hungary, yet again, your vile attacks are on a nation and government held in the highest regard by your demigod Trump and the entirety of MAGA. So it's beyond funny to read your belittling comments, when right-wing, "Christian conservatives" the world over look to this tiny Central European country - and its leader - for inspiration. None moreso than Trump himself. You're literally sh*tting in your own bed, lolz.
Sure, it's safe enough to walk the streets here. The problem is unmitigated corruption, nepotism and kleptocracy. Under the aegis of "Christian conservatism and family values" Orban has created the most corrupt government on the continent, with a ruling class of oligarchs consisting of family and close friends, who keep him in power. My issue has NEVER been with core, conservative values, many of which I agree with. It's when power is left unchecked, be it from the left or the right, is my point of contention.
The other myth is regarding Orban's heroic stance against migrants, his international calling card. So many swallow that lie. Spend a few days in Budapest or in the countryside, you'll see this country is teeming with Southeast Asian, Arab and African migrants, all brought in under the cloak of night by the HUN government to work for meager wages in factories owned by Chinese and other foreign companies, all with close ties to Orban and his family. This is severly undermining the Hungarian labor force, or whatever is left of it, as masses of young, educated Hungarians have long left the country to live in UK, Germany, or elsewhere in western Europe. Hungary has the highest inflation and lowest average wages in the EU, or close to it. It's a smoke & mirrors game, a mirage, yet Tucker Carlson and MAGA alt-right types buy into it, hook, line and sinker. Nothing new on that front.
Yeah, but other than that.all talk.
none of the rest of us "chuckled".
i saw it as embarrassing. the way we had to try to fight uphill in a battle that was lost before the first vote was cast due to the absolute election interference the Left so vehemently testified about ... then did so themselves in 2020. The number of votes counted (not cast) in 2020 vs 2012, 2016 and 2024 are evidence of that. Though no one, not even your transwife floggy will admit that this is absurd.
yet you agreed, wholecommieheartedly with this:
