Conner is a Steeler!!

Yes, love that pick!

Love having Conner on the Steelers. He is talented but also a special guy to have in the locker room.

Freaking love this!! He's a local boy from here in Erie, and we've all been rooting for him. We got the two guys I really wanted, Watt and Conner.

I live in Mercer, was it Mercyhurst where he played highschool?

My thoughts exactly. Saw him vs. GT. Put the story behind, he looks like a beast. Never saw Watt play much but warmed up to the pick a few weeks ago. These were the two I wanted in the realistic scenarios. Maybe Conner is a tad early but who gives a ****. He's the guy you want and is a compensatory pick. Well done.

BOOM BABY! I'm glad the Steelers picked him. I kept trying to tell folks around me that this kid can play. Most them kept saying nah he's okay but what about so and so from this Team? Even the local sports talk shows kept pushing other ACC & SEC RB's and didn't give Connors a thought prior to the Draft. Now I hope he makes them second guess those pre-draft thoughts. H2P.

Story aside, I'm not sure I see the value with the pick.

I'm not saying Connor is not capable of being a solid #2 back, but it feels like he could have been had 2-3 rounds later.

It seems like the Steelers liked him too much to take the chance.

I can live with it, given how I like the way they've addressed edge, CB and WR, but there was some value on defense to be had with the pick.

Sometimes there are guys that run a little faster, jump a little stronger, lift a few more weights, but how many guys out there have the fortitude to grind and the heart to stick it out when **** gets hard. If they drafted Bell or Brown on athletic attributes or final season film, neither would be here. This guy won't quit. I'll give up a 3rd to have him in the locker room.

I was thinking the same. I LOVE having him on the team but I thought he was more of a 4th or 5th round pick. With that said, you can't get a pick with better heart and work ethic. He has the talent to be a starter in the league. I just wonder if Dan Rooney told the staff to make this happen before he passed. I just have that feeling in my gut and Conner will deliver the goods.

I get the 4th/5th round thinking, but last year, Burns was a 2nd and Davis was a 3rd...at least going into the draft. I don't think anyone is upset with them now. Sometimes we get too hung up on draft ratings, I have myself, and we need to think more about the people/player we added.

Look, this kind of hits home for me. My dad battled cancer for a decade, lots of chemo. It can be debilitating. I cannot tell you how many times after chemo I had to have him put his arm around my neck and help him get from the car to the bed. He would often spend the rest of that day in bed, sick, uneasy stomach, not eat, and then sleep the whole next day to recover. One treatment a week usually took 3 days before he returned to normal. This kid is getting chemo, checking on other patients, lifting their spirits, and then he is getting out of the bed and putting in work. Sorry, I have to get on board with a dude like that, someone that dedicated to making it, because what will the not do to be great? When will they quit on you? When will a tough moment break them? That is the type of dude to stand in the fray, take the beating, and ask for more.

Conner broke Tony Dorsett's bowl record as a freshman and was the ACC Player of the Year before his ACL injury and subsequent cancer diagnosis. That cost him a year on the field and even more to get back close to the guy he was. I see nothing but upside here.
