Cooper Kupp

Since 2022

Kupp 152 catches 1,696 yards played 23 of 41 games.

Thielen 181 catches 1,839 yards played 37 of 41 games (and counting).

Things to consider.

Kupp has a future hall of fame QB throwing him the ball along with one of the best coaches in football.

Thielen had young a rookie now benched qb and his last year in Minnesota was the third option behind Jefferson and Hockenson.

Next thing you have to consider is salary and draft capital.

Kupp is due about 20m each of the next two seasons. Not sure he’s a 20m WR anymore. And the Rams likely want a day two pick for him.

Thielen is due with all his roster and workout bonuses about 6.75m. Not too hard of a number to fit under the cap if he shows he’s still worth it. Panthers likely would trade him for about anything now. I would say a 7th and probably a conditional 7th gets him.

Age is a factor. But I think Kupp’s injury history the last three years vs Thielsens says that Kupp is likely a riskier option.

Then you have to look at what this team needs. A true #2 would be great. Aiyuk or Sutton would be ideal. But we really just need a possession and rotational player. A guy who will move the chains and be consistent. Pickens is our stud. He’s our number 1. We really just need a guy to move the chains. Jefferson can block, and CA3 can be our speedster. So we really just need a guy who can run a cross and zig route well. And a guy with good hands. Thielen can do all that. A 7th round guy probably can’t. But a 2nd or 3rd round wr probably can. So I would rather keep my day two picks and draft Tre Harris Tory Horton.

I'll never understand this. We piss and moan incessantly about the Steelers not winning anything in so long. But then we don't want them to make a move that could possibly help them in the here and now. To say the Steelers aren't winning anything this year after only Week 7, idk. There is so much football to be played. We have no idea what teams will look like, including the Steelers, by December. I think you have to take the shot. I don't give a shiit right now about 2025 or beyond.
This is the exact reason why Russ is playing. Make the trade. Bring the guy in. Play ball.

Exactly. Fans worry too much about next year when the here and now needs to be zoomed in on.

You want the best upgrade option but you want A option. Time is running out they need to put their foot on the gas and bring that A in.

They are still looking at Williams who should be able to be had for a late-round pick and should be looking at Kirk. Kirk is a legit No. 2 and is young. He is doing nothing in the pitiful Jags O and should be able to be grabbed for a mid-round pick.

OK. Cupp is healthy. I’m in for a #3. We don’t have anyone like him in the receiver room and he’ll be good for 3-4 years. Problem is now the Rams are gonna win this game and may not trade him…

I'd rather have Nacua. He has many more miles left on those tires and on a rookie contract. Perfect.

Make it happen!..lol

Rams won and are back in the race. They aren’t moving those guys.
Probably not. As they are very much still in on the season. There should be some other WRs available hopefully they will get one of them before the deadline. Giants, Jets, Raiders there should be a few options available…

Sure fans worry about next year,I sure hope our GM does too. I’m quite sure many of them have a 3-5 year plan,. Obviously it all depends on the draft pick involved. Giving up a first or second for a past his peak often injured 31+ year old WR is for me a no,no. I have no problems with a 4th rounder or preferably later. If you are one of those fans that thinks we are a #2 WR away from a strong run at a SB I can see overpaying a touch. I just don’t think we are. Which is why I would have preferred to do this in FA without giving up picks, rather than trades.

Thing is as of right now they are in a position to have a good playoff run. If not when? as our QB is only signed for this season and they are tied for the division lead with a WR deficiency. Giving up say a third or lower isn’t going to impact the approach in the offseason.

With Khan's track record I'm not too concerned about him overpaying 😁

Which to me is why a deal has not been made for anyone yet. Teams are asking too much,he’s not comfortable with the terms. My thoughts haven’t changed. We don’t have a QB on the roster signed past this season. It’s not time to give up high picks. I’m certainly not ready to say Russ is our future after one decent game.

I hear what you’re saying Slash…..we will see how it plays out. The meat of our schedule is about to happen. What a shame Wilson the WR got injured. Kahn might pull the trigger yet. And as I have said…no problem getting a WR,just not with our high picks. I am guessing he can’t trade our 4th round selection or 6th because one of those will go to Chicago?

Probably the 6th as it is looking now barring a Wilson injury.
