Could Andy Reid win a Super Bowl with this roster?

Im not sure how you can say TJ is having a lacluster year when he is leading the league in TFL and FF.

He's having a great year statistically , but it doesn't seem like he's been as dominant rushing the passer as we've become accustomed to, though he's still been good in that regard.

Specifically, he doesn't seem to be beating the double teams as often as used to.

The theme for years now seems to be unless he's completely dominating just about every defensive play, the rest of the defense isn't good enough to pick up the slack, and we've been seeing a lot of that this year.

The four man rush with a soft zone behind it consistently is killing our D. Zero creativity. ZERO!!!!

Until he ran into the 2016/17 Steelers.
The last good playoff win.
8+ years ago, the Chefs had a good run, lost to the Steelers and drafted a new QB shortly after.....and now are looking for the 3rd straight SB.

How does this show the Steelers as anything except lesser in the 8/9 years since?

I do not get the smugness with a non SB 8 years ago....what am I missing?

Who is being smug? I hate that that was the last time the Steelers were actually meaningful. The 11-0 season was fun but everyone knew it was a week 11-0. And the last several seasons has bean was rinse repeatedly.
But I refuse to stop cheering for the Steelers when they still have a chance.

Tomlin needs to go on with his life's work. But I have no control of that. Forgive me for not being as negative as some of the peeps on here.

Smug was the wrong word, I think. Apologies, but there can be no satisfaction in comparing to Alex Smith/Chefs from 8 years ago and the divergent paths of both teams.

Con you are the one who brought up Alex Smith. I just responded to the history.
.
It has been way way to long since the Steelers have been relevant and it sucks. It is Tomlins fault or dueces fault more than any one else.
None of us can change any of this, so why be negative 99% of the time? I just don't get it.

I think the whole point of it is Reid didn't win Super Bowls until he got a QB like Mahomes.

These threads are starting to remind me of off-season
That will come sooner than later unfortunately.

And hosting a playoff went out the window which is really what they needed to do for their chances and money for the city.

Their fail took care of that …

Hardly negative 99% of the time. This is a MB, not a positive affirmation in the face of poor performance board.

I tried to believe this time was different.
It's not, because of Tomlin and The Deuce.

Maybe less folks -- including media -- cheerleading shiit results would result in Steelers ownership group making real changes for the benefit of the Steeler community.

I've not had any experience in life where accepting shiit results, repeatedly, with a smile and hope for the future worked.

So if Steeler fans could develop a louder voice to communicate to Tomlin and The Deuce that the present substandard standard is not ok, then that would be better, from my perspective.

Since you seem to prefer accepting the suffering, I'd suggest you pay no need to those of us who have a small voice, even if it is futile to you.....that is the entire point of SN.com, right?

Me too. If nothing else, I want to see the guys that bust their *** consistently have good games and possibly a chance to go to the big one, no matter how I feel about Mikey's decision making.

you are not one of the ones that post negatively 99% of the time. apologies if you thought I was meaning you.

Steeler fans can do 1 thing to push change. stop spending money on the product. I have not been to a game since 2018. and wont go until there is change at the top.

Not yet since there are not four articles on the home page and multiple threads talking about the Steelers on the verge of trading for some team's disgruntled WR wanting 30 mil a year.

Or 10004 mock drafts. I feel these are not far away though

But still had playoff success without the HoF QB, with two different teams. That was the point of the OP in comping Reid's record to Tomlins.
Let's be honest though, until he won a Super Bowl people wouldn't have been happy no matter what they try and say.

Yes but the media and Tomlin nuthuggers are pleased with no playoff success at all for 8 years because of no losing seasons, even with 3 losses ++ in 5 of last 7 Decembers.

Why do we as fans have to use terms like that? I see his detractors being almost exclusively the ones constantly bringing up the no losing seasons thing. Not his supporters. I am guilty of calling people haters, but I try and refrain from more derogatory things as we are all fans.

I believe that if the Steelers drafted Mahomes, he wouldn't be the Patrick Mahomes he is today. He's a terrific QB, but his coaching staff also calls plays to his and his teammates strengths and they execute it well and that matters. The Steelers have an outdated, overly simplistic system that multiple opponents have called out as simple and predictable, and there appears to be no effort to change, even as they continue play mediocre football year after year. Even with Patrick Mahomes, I doubt the Steelers are looking at Super Bowl contention much less a 3rd straight Super Bowl.

Hell no.

A playoff game?
I sure as hell wouldn't bet on it.

And not according to some of the complaints and b I t c h I n g about our players
throughout this board:

TJ having a lackluster year.
Minka has been terrible.
Pickens lousy attitude, doesn't finish plays.
Russ Wilson is washed up.
Justin Fields is a back up, nothin more.
Moore is terrible.
Nagee Harris is overrated.
Broderick Jones is a turnstile.
Joey Porter too many penalties.
We have no true #2 receiver.
Our second ary is second rate.

We have 4 good upstanding players with no issues.
KC has a team full of them.

Heyward
TJ...despite his lackluster year
Muth
and
Boz...a kicker.

So how is everything Tomlin's fault again?

NOT A CHANCE, Unless he was allowed to bring in his own assistant coaches and given time.

The thing is, Tomlin has wasted the peak years of this team.

Salute the nation
