I guess for you this messageboard isn't for discussing reality, just a place to slander and attack, in the most childish ways possible. Just because those things are not the so-called "company line," doesn't mean every bit of it is fake or as you put it, some escape from reality.

Personally, I think a smart person would go get vaccinated. Some people think a smart person would avoid this particular vaccination. We all make decisions for ourselves, and some of those decisions have consequences and sometimes those consequences are bad. Right, wrong or indifferent, that is living in a free society. As free as it used to be anyway.

COVID is a bad disease. It has killed a large number of people. But it also didn't kill all of those people by itself. Comorbidities have played a very large role in how hard this disease hits people. No one can deny that.

I think good advice would be eating right, exercising, taking vitamins and supplements as necessary and even using therapeutics such as hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin along with monoclonal antibodies. The aforementioned drugs are safe and effective at treating a number of conditions, including COVID. But saying that out loud gets me called a nut job and a conspiracy theorist, because it is nothing more than fish tank cleaner and horse wormer, according to any number of intellectually dishonest people with large platforms to spew that nonsense, knowing it's not true. There are a number of ways to fight this, but for some reason the left is hanging it's entire shingle on a vaccine that is growing less and less effective. No vitamins, therapeutics, or natural antibodies. Just the vaccine. Why? Why aren't YOU asking why? I mean, I'm vaccinated and I'm asking why, because it makes no damn sense.

In September 2020, football and baseball games were played in front of few if any fans, restaurants and bars were at limited capacity, schools and work were often virtual, masks were mandatory in most places, etc. Also the Delta variant is more contagious.

And I know you won't like this answer but we can't stay locked down forever. It's been 18 months. The human cost has been enormous. Mental health issues, suicide, substance abuse and crime are at all time highs. Suicide attempts among teen girls surged 50% during the pandemic, but no one's talking about that on CNN. Sheesh, I'm 54 I'm sure as hell not spending a significant percentage of whatever time I have left on this earth hiding in my basement on zoom meetings. I'm vaccinated. I'll get the booster if it's needed. I'll be at the Steeler game this Sunday. If I get covid so be it. Life is not worth living if we don't actually get to live it.

Lockdowns do not kill a virus, Flog. Lockdowns are a version of asking for an extension to file the tax return - you don't then get to pretend the issue is gone. You just put it off for another day. Sweden did a lot of testing to determine initial immunity and concluded that over 80% of the population had an initial immune response great enough to combat the virus without symptoms…. And that the risk percentage was low enough that lockdowns weren’t the right idea…

I feel for anyone immunocompromised but just get off the damn elevator if you're that terrified. The screaming and hysteria was way over the top as well as probably forcefully spewing out aerosols, and causing the woman to respond and speak in an enclosed space. It's illogical.

The masks are intended to slow the spread. They aren't 100% effective and no one claims they are. Acting like a mask slipping off someone's nose is akin to attempted murder or something is laughable. If someone's that terrified of catching covid they probably shouldn't leave their house.

By the way if the woman had a bottle of water she could take her mask all the way off, have a sip and no one would bat an eyelash. Cause covid can't spread while you're eating and drinking apparently. Crazy times we are living in.

Floggy, stop ignoring the evidence. The link I provided shows that Sweden ranks 39th in per capita mortality, behind the lockdown queens in France, Spain, the United Kingdom, Italy and Belgium.

Stop lying. Sweden did fine, its economy is fine, its people are happy and living life.

You really don’t understand what they did huh?

ok so this is going to sound brutal but its just the way the cold hard logic works…

Sweden decided that the vast majority of people were either immune or had immune systems that would fight off the virus… they determined mortality was going to be sub 1%… and they were among the first to push the idea that natural immunity lasted longer than a couple months… so they just stayed wide open… the virus did what viruses do and spread naturally… viruses usually burn themselves out if natural immunity works… yes they took lumps because the most likely to die died… but they were playing the long game… that after the first two waves the country will be almost entirely immune… so while lockdowns theoretically can spread pandemics out over years, they will take their lumps and be done… also all those other countries that had lower deaths have seen theirs start to rise lately…. Because all lockdowns do is spread out the spread over a longer period… not stop it…

had everyone opened up before may last year, this pandemic would be virtually over… because the infected would have been over 2/3rds of the world with the base virus and mutations would have had less opportunities to spread effectively

all of that was well known and overly discussed back when bush 2.0 had the first pandemic plan put in place… we just didn’t follow it outside of the 14 day lockdowns that we pushed out for months despite the actual warnings that action was going to cause

Newsflash …old school population quarantines were to trap a population in with the virus until everyone who was going to die died or was immune… not to minimize deaths… contain the spread and let it burn out….

we didn’t quarantine.. we just half assed hid for a bit… the viral spread was still consistent just slower and that allowed variants to have plenty of non immune people to infect…

everyone in these threads should have been around during the older pandemic debates… things flip around but mostly the concepts stay the same….

Take this for what it is worth, but I read that the FDA is not allowed to approve an experimental vaccine (Not sure if it is ANY vaccine) if there is already a proven treatment in place, such as a pill or a therapeutic. If that is true, and I haven't been able to verify it, it might explain why the left is so vehemently smearing any treatment that isn't the vaccine. Searching has proven fruitless as any time you type the word "vaccine" in any kind of search, the results are littered with PSA's about why the COVID vaccine is safe and effective.
