Covid Vaccine

I'll take my chances of catching the flu. If it knocks me off then so be it. Who wants to live in a country where you're not free anyways.

The covid vaccine does not alter your DNA. Messenger RNA sends a signal to your cells to produce a protein, which your immune system then fights off. Messenger RNA does not enter the nucleus of your cells where the DNA is. It cannot alter your DNA.

Did you know covid has been found in testicles and penile tissue and may cause erectile dysfunction and infertility? Damage from covid to blood vessels can also cause erectile dysfunction as well as brain damage.

If you want to talk long term effects you should also be considering the long term effects of the virus these vaccines prevent.

Shoot me an email OFTB and SIL once to he vaccine has been approved by the FDA. In the meantime please leave those who do not choose to take the shot the **** alone. Thanks.

Hopefully folks will see where this is just one more way to divide Americans and as other mandates over the past 60-70 years, this is working as designed.

If you want the shot more power to you, if you don't then I respect your decision to do what you feel is right for you.

With all due respect, do we even know the long term effects of either the vaccine or the virus?

We have no idea about the long term affects of repeated vaccinations; if there are studies Pfizer would show them......

BioNT has been developing MRNA technology for two decades, without a successful vaccine/drug --- until Covid allowed for Emergency Use authorization. That means, in 20ish years, that BioNT could not demonstrate efficacy in a disease state, or safety. Or both. But now, repurposed, with Pfizer, the vaccine is both safe and efficacious. Except for the need for a second shot, and a booster, and maybe a pill soon. And with zero liability to the manufacturer.

I get that some folks are willing to trade the hoped for benefits vs Covid, because it makes great sense for those at risk, like Ron and Zona have articulated, or those with other needs, like Supe has outlined. But that same risk calculus, with so many unknowns today, means that a mindful person may come to a different conclusion than the establishment pharma company.

If Pfizer was really wanting to help save the people of the world, why wouldn't they quickly agree to lend their IP to global vaccine manufacturers? Fast help to even impoverished nations because Covid bad/vaccine good.

Clearly Pfizer thinks that their property rights are more important than global public health in a pandemic. So we are not really "all in this together".

That's not quite true...Mrna technology has been studied for along time but illnesses these vaccines were being developed for (SARS, MERS, zika) were not as contagious as Covid 19 and mostly died out on their own. Investment in research and development of a drug dries up when it's no longer needed and progress is stopped before clinical trials begin. That doesn't mean the technology was unsuccessful. It takes about a billion dollars to bring a new drug to market so if there is no market for the drug, it doesn't get the investment dollars it needs.

Your theory seems to be that pharma companies are evil and just lying about the safety and efficacy of these vaccines to make money. Knowing people personally who are involved in this industry and in the development of these vaccines I don't believe that, but I know I won't convince people who want to believe that.

And you're right, we don't know the long term effects of either but due to the nature of vaccines and how they work, long term effects from vaccines in general are very rare. They are generally anaphylactic reactions or auto-immune issues that show up early on. And we know that in clinical trials incidence of these were very rare, mostly treatable, and not statistically that much different from the placebo group.

We are over a year into covid infections and know that many people still have effects from it. How long those effects will persist, we don't know. That's true.

My daughter’s friend, 15 years-old, got Covid last summer and developed a leak in her heart valve. I’m quite certain that she sees an upside other than a nebulous feeling of somehow being a good citizen.

Pharma companies are huge profit generating businesses that enjoy special protections from competition and unique relationships with FDA, both of which are out of the range of possibility for most businesses.

That unique FDA relationship, and being able to fund that billion dollar runway....while excluding competition, was utilized differently with the Covid vaccines.

Today, many vaccinated folks would suggest that the trade off was worthwhile.
Probably, that will also be the long term view. But since the government both funded and enabled the Emergency use, why is the Pfizer vaccine not made globally available?

Firstly, sorry to hear about your Daughter's friend. I hope that it doesn't impact her quality of life.

What do you think of the 7 Yankee players, all vaccinated, still getting the Rona and potentially falling fate to the same heart valve leak? OH! and they still don't know the LONG TERM EFFECTS. In some of the trials, there was tissue degradation in the lungs of mice. That's exactly what an asthmatic like me needs, damaged lungs! yay!

But lets run out and get a shot that may or may not work. Right? I mean, it's painfully obvious that we should be Guinee pigs for an experimental drug that hasn't worked on animals in about 20 years of clinical research. Right?

Has anybody on this forum - one person, ever - made any statement remotely suggesting that others should not get the vaccine, or that they would in any fashion interfere with others getting the vaccine?

You should get the vaccine because you want to do the right thing. If the government's message just happens to be the same, why are you so resolved to be stubborn?

I mean, all you vaccine deniers are just being stubborn for no sake other than to say "look at me! I'm standing up to our government!" It's asinine. And stupid. And reckless. Both with your health and the people around you.

Well I'm glad the CDC has finally acknowledged the science. No more masks for the vaccinated!

I wonder what stores and restaurants are going to do. Lift mask requirements? Ask people to produce their vaccine cards? We'll see what happens.

2. A shot that has been unsuccessfully trialed for almost two decades
3. To combat a virus that has a .02% chance of killing you
4. To which Scientists have openly stated that they have no understanding of the long term side effects
5. All the while politicians have made the drug manufactures immune to law suits

...and you think I'm living dangerously and being dumb? They've been testing mRNA unsuccessfully for so long and all of a sudden...URIKA! we've done it in a matter of months! You do realize that gene therapy (CRISPR/Cas9) has been funded in large part by Bill Gates, right? He's been on this from the start. Call it a conspiracy theory all you want, and perhaps I'm wrong, but I'll take my .02% chance over some mystery serum.
