Cowboys are cutting Washington

I just thought he was a try hard WR who just had difficulties separating. Good character type you hope latches on somewhere.

Did he get into Tomlin's doghouse for character or other issues?

52% of his targets caught. No thank you! The guy was the stiffest wide receiver I've ever seen play the game of football.

No, he just couldn't get open, his top end speed takes 20 yards to ramp up, so any bumps and he's limited. Plus his hands weren't great and the combat catches that he excelled at in college, was not a strength in the NFL.

Great run blocker though.

I don't think there were character issues. Just one of those guys who blamed his lack of production on opportunities and wanted out. Only to find out. He was one of the stiffest running receivers I've ever seen with pretty much no wiggle whatsoever.

So he is like Gentry, with better top end speed?

In 2019 Washington was tied with 30th in ability to get open (56), and 26th over all (58) as a wide receiver. Nothing special but he definitely showed capable. In 2020 he dropped to 54th in ability to get open(49) and 35th overall for receiving(57) according to ESPN analytics.

We have enough WR’s. Heck, I’d rather have DJ.

Who cares! Nice man by all accounts but couldn’t take the next step.
My focus is on the guys we have now on this football team and what happens this Sunday.
We do need a new slot guy for next season and I hope that gets addressed in the draft or FA in the off season.

Don't forget we have Calvin Austin III that is one IR. He could be a nice slot guy for 2023.

not sure he will make the team after the Steelers draft Tank Dell
The two are pretty similar. I would guess Dell is probably an early day three guy. Similar knocks for size with Dell getting the win overall there. But CA3 wins in speed and route tree. If we dump Gunner maybe we can keep both and have Dell return punts.
