For those that haven't seen the Jack ryan show, they have a season around Venezuela and actually have a very good summary on why this country is quite important in the geopolitical aspect

All private contracts to make rich lobbyists that don't do **** but be family or friends of the people in power. Money laundering and theft of the Chinese money in exchange for our resources . Of course this doesn't create local jobs, just fills their own pockets while selling out out natural resources and destroying the local industry
