Playing a 40 year old QB who is mostly immobile and been with the team for a week.
That sounds very much like a recipe for bringing pressure, forcing quick decisions from a QB who has limited time with the playbook.
Instead, Tomlin puts 2 d-lineman along with TJ and Highsmith into a 4 man front and stays with it most of the night??? They rushed 4 all night, got no pressure. On top of that, they lined up 245 pound OLBs over Cincinnati's OT and got blown off the line against the run. Of course, TJ and Highsmith are giving up 70-75 pounds each. Nobody wins that against the run. Worst, having a guy that much bigger pounding on you all night serves to negate your energy and stamina when trying to pass rush.
It's as if the Steelers lined up a defense that gave Joe Flacco every gentlemanly coureousy they could dream up.
Mike Tomlin is regularly out-coached. That's no news flash. But it's time that we stop saying he is a defensive coach. He doesn't appear to understand the basics of defensive football.
