Report: League investigating Pats for allegedly deflating footballs vs. Colts

Another Super Bowl run, another controversy for the New England Patriots after they obliterated the Indianapolis Colts 45-7 in the AFC Championship game.

According to Bob Kravitz of Indianapolis TV station WTHR, the Patriots are being investigated for purposely deflating footballs in the game, according to his league source. So far, no other reporter is citing a league source with this news, but we're sure we'll hear plenty more today.

As it rained throughout the game, the ball obviously becomes harder to grip. A less-deflated ball would give presumably QB Tom Brady an advantage if course deflated balls were only used on the Patriots' offensive drives

I'm told at one point the officials took a ball out of play and weighed it. Should hear more tomorrow on this subject.

I wouldn't put anything past the Pats***. I would be shocked if they DIDN'T have all of the other teams signals and radio frequency just as well. They're a long time statistical anomaly that can't be explained away with "Oh we're just that much better than everyone else"...cough cough bullshit. That team made me really take a long look at the NFL and i've concluded it's bullshit. It's entertaining bs so i still watch it some.I'm not spending a dime on it though.I just can't shake that feeling something just isn't right when i watch. Oh I don't think the substitution was wrong either..but it doesn't make them look any better. Until Belichick and Brady are gone, I cannot respect that team at all. They have been on the team since Spygate and know exactly what happened (or what didn't happen).

I don't have the answers,but they have a good tight end and a qb.So do plenty of teams. The rest of that team is bullshit....my theme of the day..haha. I just don't see it. Maybe i'm blinded by hatred,but im pretty convinced something aint right.

I do not think they ever stopped whatever clandestine operation they have going on to give them such a giant advantage over everyone else for 12+years now. Everyone used to think Lance Armstrong was 100% legit too. Just count me in the extreme skeptic group.

Agreed. 3 teams in our division go to the playoffs (all 4 were in contention until the Manzel fiasco). NE's division?
Bills 9-7; Dolphins 8-8 and Jets 4-12 (yes Jet fans we were one of your wins).

To put into perspective just how much success this team has had in the Belicheck/ Brady era... Yesterday was the 9th conference championship those two have gone to in 14 seasons together. Other than Brady... Name one lock HOF'er on any of those teams. Moss is the only lock I can come up with. Think about that for a minute. Think of some of the other teams that have enjoyed similar success over long periods of time... then think of all the great players that were on those teams.... The 90's Cowboys... the 80's 49'ers... our 70's Steelers... the 60's Packers. How are they able to achieve the kind of success these teams did with not even a fraction of the talent these teams had.... Think about it.

How does weighing a football tell you if it is underinflated? I know Luck ain't real consistent but Brady was a passing mofo in the rain. Refs probably had to look like they were doing something but were told not to find anything. Comments on the link (Pats* fans) saying that the refs get the balls to inspect and weigh before the game. Well sure, but it is a Pats* employee on the sideline handing the balls to the refs? Easy enough to keep a needle in your pocket and let a little air out of the ball before giving to Brady. We need videotape!

I mean honestly, you have someone in this thread arguing that Julian Edelman is "amazing" do you really think, if put on any other team in the NFL, Julian Edelman would look even competent, let alone "amazing"?

I'm not saying their success is completely due to cheating because we'll never know the full impact of their deceit and trickery, but I'll always be suspicious. Their success is purely an anomaly and they just don't have the talent year after year to explain it.
