I'm genuinely interested. In this thread please explain to me who exactly you support as our next president and why. Only one rule...you cannot mention Trump or explain why this candidate is better than Trump or talk in any way about how awful Trump is. (Trump after all, is not running next time).

Tell me what your candidate will do, what policies they support, what their accomplishments are and why they will be great for the country, aside from "They're not Trump".

You have me curious. So, I asked Perplexity AI to provide a list of potential Democrat candidates based on merit, accomplishments, and leadership and to provide examples of each as evidence. It's been sitting in "thinking mode for the last five minutes...I think I broke it.

Edit: after 23 minutes, I just closed the tab.

This will not happen onefor. One of the Democrat supporters here only posts with word salad, the other with internet links that he doesn't actually read but is somehow sure that they are valid and beyond reproach because everything on the interwebs is true.

I'm sure there are more moderate members here on SN but they refrain from commenting on the P & R side. Those are the people to ask, although from my standpoint, the argument from them would be an uphill battle.

A Liberal trying to think of a qualified candidate without mentioning Trump.

They’re just not wired that way.
Good luck.

Keep in mind that 100% of those who voted for Kamala was because she wasn’t Trump.
Ok well maybe not 100%, but I did find this both amusing and not shocking when I asked AI why people voted for Harris:

A "Not Trump" Choice: For a significant portion of the electorate, the vote for Harris was a vote against Donald Trump. These voters viewed Trump as an authoritarian threat to democracy and preferred Harris as a candidate who would respect the rule of law and maintain international alliances like NATO.

And when I asked the same question about why people voted for Trump, there was no mention of “he’s not Harris”.

  • Economic Dissatisfaction: Many voters felt the economy under the Biden-Harris administration was poor due to high inflation and rising costs for groceries and housing. Trump was perceived by many as better equipped to handle the economy, often evoking nostalgia for the lower prices during his first term.
  • Immigration and Border Security: This was a primary motivator for a large segment of his base. Many supporters favored his hardline stances, including mass deportations and finishing the border wall, seeing these as essential for national safety and economic stability.
  • Desire for Change and Leadership: Trump was widely viewed as a "change candidate" who could disrupt the political establishment in Washington. In exit polls, he held a significant advantage over Kamala Harris among voters who prioritized "ability to lead" and the "ability to bring needed change".
  • Cultural Issues: Supporters often felt that traditional American values were under threat from "woke" politics. Issues such as gender identity and perceived bias in the media and government ("the deep state") resonated strongly with his base.
  • Expanding Coalition: In 2024, Trump saw increased support among traditionally Democratic-leaning groups, including Latino men, Black men, and younger voters. These shifts were often attributed to economic concerns and a successful appeal to masculinity and working-class identity.

I am not a dem. But Shapiro would do well on the campaign trail

your request will go ignored, onefor.

Since your post was created yesterday at 2:19PM, one such staunch Democrat devotee has posted five times. Not once in this thread. The other hasn't posted since Wednesday, but will likely post a well tossed word salad when or if they decide to respond.

Post this on fakebook and post up the answers. Should be fun.

Shapiro, Kelly, Buttigieg. Don’t know what their policies would be but I know they’re all very smart and could improve our damaged standing in the world.

Commie Tibs will probably restate that he supports someone progressive, like the cackling *****.

I do not get into political discussions on there. I have friends and family ranging from "Trump is God" to "Trump is the Devil himself". I have no desire to stir that pot up.

The improvement of the world is entirely found in the policies. The smartest person can be a murderous monster, and he would be a bad leader. (See - history). If the polices are bad, the result is bad. Has very little to do with being smart.
