This thread reminds me of the episode in the original Star Trek series about the brainwashed residents who are all peaceful on the outside but go nuts occasionally and pillage their towns. They have no Freedom and attack those who are "not of the body" and then force them into their way of thinking by scrambling their brains. Fortunately Capt Kirk gives the citizens their freedom back.
It is interesting how so many of those old episodes tied into the political and social issues of that time and still hold true today.

Not Democrat violence, but the Australian equivalent of the Democrats in the People's Republic of Victoria (an Australian state that politically makes California look conservative).
Lately there have been a number of protests by conservatives under the banner March for Australia. The protests have been triggered partly by a rise in machete violence at shopping centres, bus stops, railway stations etc in Victoria by a particular group of people. These protests are always accompanied by a group of Marxist counter protestors who for some reason usually attend waving Palestinian flags, although Palestine has absolutely zero to do with the March for Australia protests.
In the most recent protests in Melbourne (capital of Victoria) police trying to keep the two groups apart had rocks, glass and rotten fruit thrown at them. The Police have stated that the violence came from the issues-orientated protestors on the left, and the March for Australia protestors were polite and followed police instructions. Not that you'd know it from reading media headlines as most of the media headlines just referred to violence at conservative/March for Australia/far right protest, and you have to read into the deepest depths of articles to discover it was the leftist counter-protesters who were the sole perpetrators of the violence.
