Derek Carr

There are no geniuses on the board but then again I thought we were here to discuss football. I guaranty everyone on this board has liked players that turned out better than the players we drafted. The draft is not a science and the Steelers are far from always right.

This is a nice thread. Not to many team message boards give Kudos to opposing players we just faced. Carr is a good QB. He may be great one day if he gets more talent around him.

I also didn't even know there was a DL vs Butler thing going. DL is a legend. Butler is a rookie coach. No comparison period. I like the attention to TOs that Butler is preaching, because in this NFL, TOs are the difference in winning and losing. Defenses can't hit. It's a passing league. Teams are going to get yardage. Increasing possessions through TOs is the best chance to win in the NFL now.

Lastly, each game is unique. You must strategize and play the way the game unfolds. I have no problem with our D letting up 35 points as long as our offense scores more than 35.

I'm trying to remember the knocks on Carr. Obviously one major flag was his brother. There's no escaping that one, fair or unfair. Wasn't there a perception that he threw a ton of really short passes at Fresno State? His YPA in college is really kind of ordinary compared to several of his peers.

I doubt that we go QB early in at least the next 2 drafts, but if guys like Carr and Bridgewater are dropping in 2018 or 2019 we should think about pulling the trigger.

Love Carr's game, he has the size , smarts, cannon arm and great mobility and the ability to throw rockets on the dead run. I knew he was better than the QBs picked earlier, Bottles and Bridgewater, etc but sometimes scouts can't see the forest for the trees.

Coke Bottles? Beer Bottles?? Wine Bottles??? Who's Bottles?

First of all don't group me into this group that you dream up. Bottom line is we are creating TO's. I'm glad we are getting them. Learn to read.

That isn't half of what you said. Maybe you should learn to read what you write? Only caring about TOs is short sighted.

I did not blast palmer and dalton. I said Dalton was playing as well as anyone in the league and I said the Cards were a good team who were leading the league in scoring at the time. The cards have a great record with palmer as their qb.

You are correct about the D living off turnovers. However the last couple years we did not get them so at least we are making progress.

My bad if you aren't one of the guys that blasted them. Most did and still would.

To be fair to David Carr, he went to a rudderless expansion team and got sacked 250 times in 5 years before the game became easy for QBs. Completely destroyed him. Obviously being the #1 pick, he was a let down, but I'll never believe for a second that he was a bad QB

Texans passed on him because they didn't want another Carr...

He'd look good in black and gold. He's not being used properly in Oakland.......
