Detroit, Rams, trading QB's

The NFL is is becoming the NBA. Top players swapping. Top players demanding their teams for trades. Giving up draft picks like they are meaningless.

It's not THAT bad. Not even close.

NFL players have nowhere near the leverage NBA players do.

I do agree. That that bad...yet. We'll see how the Watson/Watt situation plays out. I kinda hope the Texans brass sticks to their guns and don't trade.
Or maybe I'm pissed (in hindsight) that we get a 3rd for AB, and plyers like Ramsey/Adams get multiple 1st rounders?? lol.

Stafford turns 33 next week. And bad backs don't get better with age. I don't get this trade at all. Sure, the Lions will most likely **** it up on their end, but if the Rams don't win right now, they're ****** for quite awhile. I don't see Stafford as a guy gutting out big wins on the road in Seattle.

Just once I'd like the Steelers to fleece someone the way the Rams got fleeced there. I get what people are saying about the contract but after this season they can cut Goff for 15 million. But people are right. Lions will still **** it up. Its often said what a great job Tomlin did keeping ABs bullshit under wraps. I still think they should have got full value for him before it became common knowledge.
I wondered last night what they could get for DeCastro. If a high second that would be pretty enticing. Probably wouldn't get that for a guard but I would jump on that or anything higher. I would then draft Trey Smith with the pick. Then you have two young good run stoppers. With original three picks I am drafting a T,C, and a RB. Then you have a O-line refurbished and a revamped running game. A pipe dream but my dream approach.

My first thought was that it makes the Rams instantly better. But, does it really? And how old is Stafford again? Giving up all those picks, PLUS Goff? It may make the Rams better in 2021 (maybe), but giving up all those picks is going to bite them.

didn't he just throw 3 picks in the NFC Championship? the defense won that game for them

I think it's a choice of what you see, in Lemm's case he see t*mmyb*y.

Makes one wonder if the Rams would have done a similar deal for Ben.

McVay with the reeeeeaaaach.

Stafford can't run an RPO and Goff is garbage.

Detroit with the win...but it's Detroit...

The Bills did offer a top ten pick for AB but dumfuq himself nixed the deal. He was damaged goods after that. I am amazed they got a 3rdh for the headcase. I am sure the Raiders regret giving that much for him.

Too much to give up for Stafford.

Well, Goff is pretty bad. Put a good QB on the Rams, which Stafford is and Rams moved up a notch instantly in the ratings. Short term it's a good move. Long term remains to bee seen. Did the Rams get the better on the cap in this deal? Factor that in too.

I generally agree tat the Rams gave up too much. If they had really good deep receivers I might view it differently.

How dare you, don't you know he threw those on purpose just to give GB a chance, Lord Brady does what he wants, when he wants.

He had a 4th INT dropped early in that game, and he go bailed out on a duck he threw up for grabs as he was about to be hit later on

I think both teams screwed each other. Does anyone get the impression that McVay and staff think they are the smartest people on the planet? Two number 1 and a third for Stafford, who by the way still has some gas in the tank, is just too much. Goff is an afterthought. The picks are what they were after. I wonder who is paying the 45 million guaranteed money? I am guessing this is why the Steelers don't go overboard with a lot of guaranteed money.

Look at all of the draft picks involved with Jared Goff:

Rams give:
2016 first-round pick
2 2016 second-round picks
2016 third-round pick
2017 third-round pick
2021 third round pick
2022 first-round pick
2023 first-round pick
Jared Goff

Rams receive:
2016 first-overall pick (Jared Goff)
2016 4th-round pick
2016 6th-round pick
Matthew Stafford

LA is chasing a title and got the guy they think will get them there. They get it no one's gonna give a **** about the draft capital they gave up for it. Not to mention two of the top NFC teams this year's QBs are old as dirt and that could open up the conference.

Detroit is rebuilding and got a young QB who's had some success in the NFL, if he turns **** around great you have your guy if not he's got an out in a year and they have a pair of firsts

the Rams got ******...Stafford is not Manning...even the shell of Manning that went to Denver

and the lions will **** up the picks

Stafford is not Manning... understatement

Manning was just on a whole different level

But MIP Coolie, to be fair—Detroit probably bears some blame in Stafford “underachieving”
as they wasted Barry Sanders & Calvin Johnson before him.

Stafford could play QB at a high level and was overshadowed by Brees & Rodgers his whole career.

The Rams are going all-in for a short run — it sure as **** wasn’t happening with Goff. But when it’s over they are barren picks and done for a decade

Man goffs all that bad the rams running came on late last season but o-line is getting getting old, and now no draft picks to freshen it up, they had no outside speed hell one us could out run Kupp after his knee injury… rams offense was slow and that lack of speed kept them out of the end zone. Goff won’t have much to work with with the lions but man I’m sick fat old, slow, expensive qbs hogging up all the cap imho Lions fleeced the rams… get it? Fleeced? see what I did there? Fleeced? is this mic on?

Wow, bringing up an old thread. Honestly, I’m curious to see how this plays out. If Goff plays like 2018 the Lions could just use those picks to build around him. If the Rams win a bowl they won the trade. Either way should be interesting

Since this thread is back, how in the the world did Stafford’s status as a QB all of a sudden get elevated. Great QBs usually don’t have so many bad years regardless of the talent. I don’t think Stafford is anywhere as good as some are making him out to be.

Stafford is slept on a lot because he played for really bad teams. I mean really really bad teams. And yet, since coming into the league in 2009, he has more comeback wins than anyone with 31.

He's the Dan Marino of today's NFL. Has never had a defense to compliment his offense.
