Gabe Davis is nothing to get excited over. Guy didn't put up good numbers on one of the best teams in the league with a perennial top 5 QB.

Supposedly Roc got in tomlins doghouse which is why he was cut. Would not be shocked if this was true as we have seen other players not play because of this reason

I think it was nothing more than a numbers game

They needed spots to replace injured players

They had 10 wrs on the roster

Three wrs were roster locks, DK, CA3 and Roman Wilson

Ben Skowronik is a ST ace that they like and likely makes the roster

Scotty Miller is the top guy to replace CA or Roman's styles if they went down. He is fighting for a spot

Then you have:
Robert Woods, who is a vet and probably their best runblocking wr. He wasnt getting an early cut
Keyshawn Williams, who also is a KR, they wont want to expose a top kr for the last preseason game, so he wasnt getting an early cut

So that left UDFA Roc Taylor, a 4.5 speed Guy who really only ran deep routes well,

Brandon Johnson and Lance McCutcheon... the latter two are not as good athletes but not that far off from what Roc brings to the table. both are further along in the system, having been PS players here last season.

All three were expendable... Taylor was the least developed and offered little flexibility

Shocked they released him then since the deep routes is basically the Tomlin offense. Especially, on 4th and 1.
