DJ’s cryptic tweet and unfollows steelers from social media

Speculation is he wants more money but it’s unclear. The one thing that is clear is he has some sort of gripe with the organization. I think Khan needs to get out in front of this before free agency starts. If he has to trade him it is best to do it before teams start filling holes in free agency.

Maybe he's been told Canada ain gone b round next season.

What this? Tomlin has another diva player ( he has a lot of them and has created a culture where they thrive ) posting internal stuff? I was against giving Johnson a big contact. This was one of Khan's first moves. He did not have to resign him, he could have walked in 2023 and at least netted us a comp pick , that is if he value is anywhere near what he thinks. His cap # in 2023 is $16,333,333.00 !

Trade him? What team wants his cap #, play which features timely drops and setting an NFL record for most catches without a TD, and diva like attitude?

NOT defending DJ but the OC play calling would hinder all the top WRs in the league.

He is listed with 7 drops for the season but if one watched the games……. You’d see that number should be higher.

The fact remains he didn’t have a TD catch, but his cap hit is low in comparison.

DJ’s cap number is 16.333 to us, but if we traded him prior to his roster bonus tripping (it could be in march or it could be in June… I don’t know which version of the roster bonus he has) he only would cost a team 8 mil this year… and 10 next… thats less than what Juju is expected to get as his next contract… it’s extremely low for his production… and DJ does have some drop issues, but lots of star wrs do too… his catch rate is still at an acceptable level in the NFL… hell look at any of the drop stats and you see a bunch of stars with as many, or one more or less than him… Jamar Chase led the league on most sites… and most teams would kill to get that guy… its an overblown stat here…

Now go look at the free agent wrs right now.. if a team needs an established wr that isn’t older than dirt and breaking down, who else is available (besides hopkins in a trade)?

If we put DJ on the Market we would get a first back… he has better metrics than Marquise Brown, who got a first last year. AJ Brown got a first coming off of a 60 some catch, 800some yard season… and those guys were in a better wr market with a better and deeper group of potential impact receivers in the draft last year…

Much higher. He had 3 easy drops in the last game alone.

If he can be moved for a 1st round pick then I think you have to do it.

The cap money would be significant to fill another hole in free agency and give another early pick to replace him/another spot of need. Plus, the rookie is locked in on a multi-year rookie salary.

$16 mil is a lot for a guy who didn't score, isn't a #1 WR and suffers from frequent drops.

Yet you think teams might be willing to trade a first round pick for him? Given the history of Wide Receivers the Steelers have traded (Holmes, Bryant, Coates, Brown, Claypool), if I was a GM of another team I'd be running a thousand miles in the opposite direction if the Steelers were looking to trade DJ.

As others said, this isn't a deep draft at WR, unlike most of the previous years. That position will be in high demand in free agency

And free agency is a joke… Juju is arguably the best option especially long term… Landry is injury prone and over 30 and he is easily the second best option… sporttrac’s projected market value on Juju just jumped to 14.7 million per. It had been at 9.7… the lack of wr options is just blowing the market up… tge good news is usually when this happens it only last a couple years then it stabilizes… so hopefully before Pickens is due Wrs aren’t going to be getting near QB money anymore

Think about that… they expect Juju to pull close to 15 million per season… he is a good #2… that is where this market is at

Does he have a per touchdown rate? This year it approached infinity. He’s gonna need to get that down to a more affordable level.

I'm hoping DWJ can continue to get better. I have this trading card and it won't be worth squat if he doesn't start putting up the numbers and help us in getting SB wins.

What the hell. 😅

I tried to post an image of that Necessary Roughness WR with the football lodged in his facemask, but it isn’t cooperating lol…

AND

For that reason DJ will bring a 1st and a 5th or 6th.

I don’t think the STEELERS put him on the block, they know what they’ve got and the money being spent.

I don’t know if JuJu could be an option but he would be thaT GREAT slot receiver we need should DJ become MIA.

I really don’t think we can get a number one for Johnson but I never thought we would get what translates to the number 32 for Claypool.
If the Steelers are inclined to trade him then I’d be on the phone with the Packers who badly need a WR and may be willing to part with a premium pick. Idk though how they feel about him especially with Big George an emerging star and number one. That can’t sit well with Johnson.

So, DID Deonte Johnson actually “unfollow” the Steelers ????

The Thread topic indicates he did, but I’m curious if he actually did?

I honestly don’t know I just read he did.

Well in a couple different places I’d read that he actually did NOT, this the question.

I won’t take the time to investigate because I could care less on whether an entitled athlete did or didn’t Do something.
