Makes all the sense in the world business wise. Chris may not like it as he was counting on 2M but, it's a prove it world and he's falls into that catagory. Nothing is a guarantee but two seasons ago Tomlin had a great record due to a close call kicker making them. Last season the close call kicker failed......SO Tomlin has a lot riding on his kicker choice and consequences of that choice as his extention / employment as per how far they go, team wise.

Holding that bonus. Seems like a significant amount of doubt is present. Problem I have over this is preseason really the measuring stick in this case? I mean we really won't know until game time pressure situations. Isn't that fair to say in this instance? Not sure preseason will bring that same type of pressure to tell one way or another....

bonus withheld or no, the problem is that to cut him, they have to make at least one other move - either a cut or a restructure - due to the cap hit. I hope whatever gave him the yips last year is solved because the guy can kick the lights out if he can find his game again. He has had time to solve whatever injury/confidence/mechanics issues that were going on. But like Slash said, we won't know for sure till the lights are on and a real game rides on his leg.
This is shrewd business. A lot of this stuff has likely happened with others previously and it just didn't get leaked out. Boswell needs to perform or he is going to get cut. I just don't have faith in a guy to recover from the bad yips he developed last year. Kickers have always been head cases and with the Heinz Field wind situation, its just not good to have an unreliable kicker. I'd rather us not have to win games by FGs or XPs but they are part of the game and they can make or break you. Boswell better have his **** together or we will have a new kicker. Sucks that he just got a new contract but that's how this goes. At least after this year the AB cap hit is gone.
