Dotson traded to Rams

Weird trade. While I understand the value in receiving an extra pick in the 4th round (2024) and 5th round (2025), we're also giving up picks in the 5th and 6th round respectively. I would have hoped for a flat out pick for Dotson rather than this swapping stuff.

Different that's for sure, looking on the bright side, it could turn into moving up at least 50 spots from the fifth to fourth. Maybe more, hopefully not less.

The rams are expected to be a bottom six team. Some have them pegged as the third or form worst team in the league this year… so that is substantial… you probably could trade that fourth back to where we finished and pick up an extra fifth… which was about his value

See my post above… if that 4th is near the top of the round , you can trade down in the 4th and pick up an extra low round fifth

So you will hear that tge steelers saved 2.75 million dollars by trading him but in reality they still have to replace him on the roster, so it will probably be slightly less than 2 million in savings… still rather significant

Is it just me or does this also free up some cap space.

I am kinda torn on this. rookie contract, would be good to have the depth in case of injury. but on the other side he is gone next year anyway. might as well get something for him

Hate to see him go, but I get it and trust the office…
Always liked Dotson since we drafted him.

He wasn’t cheap. He cost 3 million against the cap this year, and he didn’t play any other positions… as a low end starter he was worth it, but as a backup he just wasn’t… plus im almost certain he was leapfrogged by herbig and Anderson so even if he made it he probably would have been inactive anyway…

Ok trade as long as the depth doesn't take a hit during the season. Rolling the dice but the signing was on the wall with two guards signed in free agency. So in that aspect I like that they got something for him. So as we root for the Steelers to win we can root for the rams to lose. So be it.

It means the FO and coaches think they have better depth than Dotson, who brought in upside in a trade.

How many years ago was the last time the Steelers were able to trade an OL they were about to cut?

This is a demonstration of the good work of the th FO in the offseason.

Yeah I just don't really get all these gyrations. I'd have just rather straight out taken one pick and they damn well better have a good replacement because you are giving a guy with a lot of experience.

With all the new additions and the Dotson deal, the climate in Pittsburgh sure has changed!
So when is The K. Green New Deal ever gonna happen?
