Draft Simulators: Two Months Until the 2022 Draft

I am so glad I am not the Steelers GM. I would go defense on every single pick every single year.

you guys on this board would do nothing but ***** at me I could see it now that thread would beat the Dri Archer thread, all dedicated to posts about how I suck.

    IDL,

Stellar draft there, slash! Very heavy on the defensive backfield, I see.

https://thedraftnetwork.com/mock-draft-machine

1.20-Garrett Wilson, WR, Ohio State
-Best player left at a premium position. Too good to pass up even though there were two players available at a bigger "need" position.

2.52-Jalen Pitre, DB, Baylor
-Terrific player for Baylor's defense, he will step in as slot DB.

3.84-Chad Muma, ILB, Wyoming
-Future starter at ILB. Has the ability to perform well in coverage.

4.137-Dameon Pierce, RB, Florida
-I'm looking for potential impact players on Day 3. Pierce is a talented player who may be the best pass blocking RB in this year's draft.

2.222-Luke Goedeke, OT, Central Michigan

7.238-Smoke Monday, S, Auburn

https://www.profootballnetwork.com/mockdraft/

1.20-Iken Ekwonu, OT, North Carolina State
-Are you kidding me? A stud LT fell into our laps in this one. Though, he is only ranked 20 in this draft.

2.52-Zion Johnson, IOL, Boston College
-He has the ability to play guard or center. Tone setter from the interior of the line and played at a school which routinely pumps out talented NFL linemen.

3.84-John Metchie, WR, Alabama
-Too hard to pass up a playmaker at this point.

4.138-Leo Chenal, ILB, Wisconsin

7.223-Connor Heyward, Michigan State

-You know how the Steelers like to have sets of siblings on the team.

7.239-Tayland Humphrey, IDL, Louisiana

https://www.pff.com/draft/nfl-mock-draft-simulator

1.20-Jameson Williams, WR, Alabama
This was the best board by far. I had Trent McDuffie, Tyler Linderbaum, Bernhard Raimann, Kenyon Green, Trevor Penning, Malik Willis all available. I went for the best playmaker, though the Steelers probably go for Willis.

2.52-Kyler Gordon, CB, Washington
-I really like Gordon's potential at the next level. Impact player as a rookie.

3.84-Darrian Beavers, ILB, Cincinnati
-Much-needed size on the interior of the defense.

4.138-Luke Fortner, IOL, Kenucky

6.207-Noah Elliss, IDL, Idaho

7.221-Zaquandre White, RB, South Carolina

7.237-Spencer Burford, OL, UTSA

The first simulator wouldn't load, and the PFF was so ridiculous, I didn't even bother after the second attempt. First go around they had the bengals taking Malik Willis in the first round. The second go around, he went to KC in the first...

check my post again. I drafted Penning in the 1.20

I traded back 8 spots in the 2nd, gave our 4th and got an extra 3rd. Thought I had explained it

uggg we very seldom trade up?back we usually run u within 5 seconds and pick our guy. I know Bush, Holmes and Troy are exceptions

Lol nope you don’t have to apologize i do for a confusing post… i liked your trade, which is why i said in the second it’s sweet… i just interjected that if we traded down in the first id want an extra pick

85. Daniel Faalele OT Minnesota
138. Leo Chenal LB Wisconsin
223. Josh Blackwell CB Duke
239. Zach Van Valkenburg EDGE Iowa

2023 CAR 6th

Jeez, looks like I channeled Berm. Williams is just too good to pass up. I may be overly influenced by what I saw Chase do for the Bengals but Williams makes the WR corps legit. He is the #1, DJ the #2, Claypool #3. Mathis improves a thin DL, Faalele starts at RT right-the-**** now, and Chenal is a 6'2", 257 lb. thumper and run-stopper. Blackwell has tools and I genuinely think Van Valkenburg does not last until 239. He has a tweener frame at 6'4", 270 lbs. but is a talented pass rusher who has moved from Div. II to being a force on the Iowa defensive line. Here is a clip of him using his hands to blow past the Kentucky LT:

Your score is: 50255 (GRADE: A)

Your Picks:

Round 1 Pick 20: Ahmad Gardner, CB, Cincinnati (A)
Round 2 Pick 20: Daniel Faalele, OT, Minnesota (A+)
Round 3 Pick 20: Alec Pierce, WR, Cincinnati (A+)
Round 4 Pick 33 (COMP): Darrian Beavers, ILB/OLB, Cincinnati (A+)
Round 5 Pick 35 (COMP): Hassan Haskins, RB, Michigan (A+)
Round 7 Pick 4: Jaylan Foster, FS/SS, South Carolina (A+)
Round 7 Pick 20: Aaron Hansford, ILB/OLB, Texas A&M (A+)

No trades. Gardner is the team's best CB by the middle of the season, Faalele the starting RT immediately. Pierce is a bargain at pick 84 - big, fast, productive. Some drops but that can be addressed. Beavers improves ILB'er position and makes the 2022 Steelers the go-to for the Cincinnati Bearcats for some reason.

I think of Williams in the manner Cinci thought of Chase, just too good to pass up if he somehow fell to 20.

91. John Metchie III WR Alabama
  • 2023 LV 2nd
  • 2023 BUF 2nd
  • 2023 ARI 3rd

Lots of trading down. LOTS. Starting RT, CB right here. I think that after the combine, NO WAY Gordon lasts to the 2nd round but whatever. Hall can play 3-4 DE, or interior DL in a 4-man front. Metchie is the legit deep threat the team lacks.

Oh, and the 2023 draft is going to be epic. Depending on how much Juju signs for and produces, the Steelers could have 7 of the first 100 selections.

EDIT: The more I look at this draft pool, the more convinced I am that the draft has maybe 4-5 guys who are obvious first-rounders, a group of about 35 who arguably could be first-rounders. Not tremendously deep - the top 100 are solid, some really good players buried in there, but from the 4th round on the talent pool thins quite a bit. Very good draft to drop 5-7 spots in the 1st and get a high-round pick in the 2023 draft in return.
