Draft Steals

Of those one zillion mock drafts we ran for this year’s draft, i think i only took jpjr, addison, dell, mims, and branch in any of them…

That is why I am a lowly message board poster and not a GM lol

Once Cory Trice is back next year, I think there will be more raving about this draft class.

Salute the nation
Just not counting him and hoping he is healthy and ready to chip in. Golson makes me cautious in expectations with certain injuries.

In every draft there are as many players who outperform their draft status ("steals") as there are those who underperform to where they were taken ("busts"). That's the beauty and the science of the draft. I'm just glad that our '23 draft class has more hits than misses so far.

Oh, and the only real "stealing" done during the draft was Pittsburgh unloading Claypool on Chicago for essentially a late 1st rounder. Now that was criminal. But SN will take it!

I was absolutely certain Stroud was going to bust… and he may fall off from where he is at right now, but I don’t think he will outright bust…

Though it really does not make any sense…
Strouds accuracy numbers are literally as bad or worse than Picketts or Young’s… and he is having a top 5 all time rookie season…

He has 66.1% on target throws… which is tied for 4th worse among qualified qbs.. that is one spot above pickett and one below young…

And his bad throws are at 18%, 3rd worst in the league.. young is second worst, pickett fifth…

i get that the system he runs inflates his results, but fir the life of me I have no idea if the kids is going to come back down to earth by year 3 or if in two more seasons he gets better and that offense is really scary

I think Herbig has serious potential as well… and Washington… the 7th round utility oline guy is the only one I don’t really love, but even he can be something
What warmed me up to the idea of drafting Washington in the spot they did was the clear vision Khan and Weidl had to build this into a strong running team. I think he's only a No. 2 blocking TE with limited upside as a receiver, but for how this team is constructed, that works. However, doubling down at tackle and taking a shot at Dawand Jones wouldn't have been a bad idea either. Risk-reward with him.

well drafting Dell gave him a HUGE target and made his job easier

I will go on record thinking he will star and not fade. I think he is a pure passer and a developing franchise QB. I think you are just seeing the tip of the iceberg with him.

I don't think I nailed any Steelers picks this year, oh well always next year!

In my mocks, I regularly had the Steelers taking Broderick Jones, Joey Porter Jr., Keanu Benton and Darnell Washington.

Not in the same draft of course since both Jones and JPJ are 1st round talents, and Washington was a 2nd round pick in my mocks. Also, I admittedly did about a hundred mocks so there's that.

No doubt. He is playing some RT for the Clowns but is still so out of shape that I don't think he can go 65 snaps. This offseason will tell us a lot about him. If he gains weight, he is going to be Zach Banner 2. If he loses 20 lbs. and gets more endurance, he could be a good RT.

Draft wise I did 1000 this year. I came close in a couple with the top 4 picks. but did not nail any 1 draft. more of a combination.

Lol yeah a lot of us produced some mocks. Love the draft process...

Keanu Benton should also be on that list. He has exceeded all expectations in his first year in the NFL. He's making plays and generating pressure up front for the Steelers that we haven't seen since Casey Hampton.

he has been a great pick but not a big stat guy
