Empty Seats

I was on the waiting list for 19 years before I had the opportunity to get season tickets. 2019…just at the end of Ben. Right before Covid…and the beginning of the free fall into mediocrity. I’m lucky to get face value for the games I can t get to.
Fans were getting lower level tickets right before kickoff for $50 and less for the MNF game. People were that desperate to unload them and there were still 15-20k no shows. The way the secondary market is right now, it's going to be a Pitt crowd there tomorrow night.

As long as those tickets don't go to raven fans.
5-20 years ago? I’d agree with you.
As much as it is going to sting, I want it to be 100% rat fans, but also only be rat fans, and only have a few hundred or thousand in the seats. Near empty with nothing but rat fans tomorrow night in prime time against your mortal enemy with playoffs on the line and lose in an embarrassing blowout loss.
THIS, and only this, could possibly get the proper turnover housecleaning enema we so desperately need.

For a head coach who has gotten dominated over his last decade of playoff games, it would demonstrate he's learned something about preparation. The young core of players need to learn how to win big games to start to build a championship culture.
But they will need a new coach and a new QB to win any of those games. Cause there is no way this coach is rebuilding this team God help us and the QB is 42.

Guessing it will be in the low to mid 20's at kickoff, a lot of people will be offered free tickets.

So, on reading this thread Saturday, i got the idea to investigate actually going to the game.....
long story short, 6 hour drive with my wife and two sons, got tix en route......holy sheet, what a game to watch at the stadium!!

Easily the most enjoyable Steeler game I've ever attended. The fans, in the full stadium, were engaged for the entire game, we're standing the entire game, and was a very cool experience.

The 4th Q was just a huge rollercoaster, and mostly not the good kind. When Boz missed the PAT, it was just terrible.....then a few big, quick plays put the Rats in position for the chip shot

WIDE RIGHT!

The crowd went nuts, for a long time.
Folks were singing all the way thru the streets and back over the Clemente Bridge.

What great experience for my family!!

Thanks to all for the thread and comments; it created a great Steeler memory for my family!

ps. I may have started some "Fire Tomlin" chants in 2Q.....didn't catch on, lol.

There were a lot of no shows last night but the crowd was electric, especially in the fourth quarter. The FG looked like it was going to be good from my view but quickly heard a roar from the crowd. Nothing better! Great game!

Lucky bum! That’s something you can talk about for life! If you don’t mind sharing….how much were tickets and what source did you use?

Yeah, the game's flaws kept it exciting.

I was gonna buy tickets at the stadium, but my wife, new to that sort of thing, got visibly more nervous as we got closer to Pittsburgh without tickets.....so I had been watching TickPick, Stubhub, Seatgeek and Ticketmaster....Tickmaster, surprising, was cheaper on the few sets of 4 that I was monitoring. We wanted to be between the 20s, lower bowl. We ended up at section 136, row V, seats 7-10. Great seats! Great view of Steeler sideline too. I paid $155ish for each seat; pretty sure it could have been much cheaper from scalpers on site, but I cannot complain.

Such a great crowd, massive swings, happy ending, lots of singing Steeler fans!

You did well. It’s that difference in the $$$ that gets us. The walk back over the bridge with the crowd must have been great! Ahhhh…Memories. Did you drive back after the game?

Nah, we got a hotel, Emabassy Suites, that is 5 minute walk from the Clemente bridge. We are headed back up in a bit.

I was prepared for either a Steeler win or to be in the stadium for the "fire Tomlin" chants. During halftime, many in the men's room were expecting the chants.
But, in the words of Polamalu "....it didn't happen that way".

Glad we opted for the football game over the hockey game last night.

I'm glad you and the family had a great time, but I would have LOVED to be there for that hockey game. What a finish!

Lol.....i.meant the World Junior Championships. USA tanked out in quarterfinals, Canada last night, almost in exact time with the Steeler game, bowed out in the semis.

My oldest boy played lacrosse with the Canadian team captain, and he scored the tying goal in the 3rd, but they effed it up and got bounced to the 2nd loser game.

Gotcha. I remember that the Jr. Worlds were coming. I don't follow them.

Now I'm much happier for your family!
