amen

Revis is one year younger than Gay

This reminds me of the typical chick who only wanted to date the cool guy when she was young and hot, then as she aged realized he's not soo cool in the adult world, and now wants to be with the successful guys that weren't cool enough when she was in her prime. **** That and **** Revis.

Got family in Tucson. Damn hot!

Cmon, this is Darrelle Revis we're talking about, here. He aint taking a penny less than $6 mil, and I'd fall out of my chair if the Steelers agreed to a contract anywhere close to that. Besides, as was mentioned previously, we dont play bump-and-run, he's too old to adapt to Pittsburgh's "scared to death of being burned deep" zone concepts

If he is getting 5 million from the Jets unless he gets more than that he is better off making less. And if he wants to play here it kinda makes sense at least for one year. Maybe give him 8 over 2 or something like that.

From what I read on Pro Football Talk it sounded more like what he made would eat at his guaranteed 6 million So anything less than 6 million was playing for free. Don't see him being paid more than 6 million though.

Could a contract be written with a base guarantee and a roster bonus if on it effective August 1st or completion of train ing camp?? Say like 3million base then 4milion roster bonus. (Obviously if we could afford). This would give us a true chance to see what he has left in the tank...

Free agent Darrelle Revis is owed $6 million guaranteed by the Jets, and the money contains no offset language.

It puts Revis in prime position to retire, or take a year away from the game. No teams are likely to offer Revis significantly more than $6 million to play in 2017, and he would essentially be accepting a pay cut -- and helping the Jets -- by signing a deal that would pay him less than $6 million. Revis' best option might be to sit out the 2017 season, then return in better shape in 2018. His physical conditioning was known to be a problem last year.
_________

Jets released CB Darrelle Revis.

Signed to a "five-year, $70 million" contract in March 2015, Revis returned to New York as a conquering hero, and turned in a solid 2015. Things have been very Jets-y since, with Revis' play falling off a cliff last season before a February arrest on felony assault charges. The move creates $7.33 million in cap space, but leaves behind a whopping $8 million in dead money. With his legs seemingly toast, the former fiercest corner in the league might have to convert to safety in his age-32 season. That's if he doesn't retire.

_______________

One anonymous NFL general manager told the New York Daily News he wouldn't sign Darrelle Revis for free.

Revis let his body go in 2016, passing up offseason conditioning and turning in an atrocious season wherein the man-coverage Jets resorted to playing zone because Revis was getting beaten so badly deep. "Have you seen his tape?" said the GM. "I wouldn't let him play for me for free." Added another front office executive, "Revis is done. You respect the body of work throughout his career, but all good things come to an end." A post-season report from Gil Brandt indicated Revis played the 2016 season weighing nearly 220 pounds.

He started to get bad two years ago. Now he sucks so I will pass.

He's still better than anyone we have - it's a no-brainer to me, bring him in and kick the tires

At a time when the Steelers have swung-and-missed on all but one free agent they’ve brought into their practice facility, it wouldn’t, or shouldn’t, shock anyone the team might pick up the phone and see just what Revis has left in the tank.

There would certainly be doubters if the Steelers decide to bring in Revis, but if he gives the team a cap-friendly deal, it could be a very low cost addition to the team. I, for one, would be okay with them bringing him in to get a look. After all, it wouldn’t hurt anything, but as the Steelers work — it’s all about the money.

If we have to pay him 6+ Million I am totally out. If we could pay him 1 and have the jets kick in 5 I was all in. Terrance Newman is still available and so is Mo Clairborne. Lets bring them in kick the tires and see what they want as both were rated higher last year than Revis and I feel either will come in for 2-4 million on a one year deal.

Jets released him. They are taking the cap hit. Unless I'm mistaken he can sign anywhere for any amount.

Revis was never used properly

But he was used property!

If he's already getting 6 million for free from the Jets upon his release, I say talk to him. Give him a workout against Brown and a couple of the young guys to see what he can do. If he can still keep up with them, you could consider making him an offer.

Posted above was one of two scenarios. Jets either pay him 6 million for 2017 unless he signs elsewhere which then they are off the hook. Or he signs elsewhere and that contract offsets the difference of the 6 million. i.e. 1 million contract = 5 million Jets pay.

If he has to get 6+ million I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole. If it's offsetting I am all for signing him to the min and letting the Jets foot the bill.

I'd have to disagree, I'd venture a guess that Artie Burns graded way ahead of Revis last year.

What would it hurt to bring him in and see if he can run and what kind of shape he's in?

This is the way I read it. I think the only thing you could do is kick in guaranteed money for 2018. So that he is essentially making more than the 6 million for sitting on his assistant. I'd only be interested if he is a slot corner upgrade.

yeap, and let's see if he really wants to give the hometown discount
