Priebus: Trump will void Cuba deal unless Castro regime moves to concessions

President-elect Donald Trump will keep his campaign promise to void a 2014 deal that improves diplomacy and commerce between the U.S. and Cuba, incoming White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus said Sunday, a day after the announcement of Cuban dictator Fidel Castro’s death.

“President-elect Trump has been pretty clear,” Priebus told “Fox News Sunday,” in a wide-ranging interview. “We’ve got to have a better deal.”

Trump, during his successful White House bid, argued against President Obama’s 2014 executive action that attempts to “normalize” relations between the United States and the communist country.

Obama used executive actions to ease sanctions against Cuba. The president ended the 180-day ban on ships docking at U.S. ports after sailing from Cuba, paved the way for doctors to work with Cuban researchers on medical investigations and allowed Americans to travel to Cuba in cultural exchange programs.

Jill Stein praises Fidel Castro: 'A symbol of the struggle for justice'

Green Party perennial presidential hopeful Jill Stein praised former Cuban strongman Fidel Castro on Saturday, as encomiums by many left-of-center politicians continued to roll in following his death.

"Fidel Castro was a symbol of the struggle for justice in the shadow of empire. Presente!" Stein wrote on Twitter Saturday afternoon.

The verb form of the word literally means "present." The way Stein used it was something like a military salute ("present arms!") but for Latin American leftist radicals.

Unbelievable. It really is. So glad we have a good chance to get this country going away from the leftist asshats.

I am not hard leaning towards any direction with Castro. I realize he was communist, and generally speaking, that is a **** govt. But he also did end some tyranny by the usual suspects. He wasn't all bad. But, is Rubio clueless about his own country?

"He executed people. He jailed people for 20 to 30 years. The Florida Straits, there are thousands of people who lost their lives fleeing his dictatorship. And not to acknowledge any of that in the statement, I felt was pathetic, absolutely."

"Little Marco," you DO know that America imprisons more people, per capita, than any country in the entire world. You DO realize that we continue to execute thousands in this country? And yet, you whine about Castro on those fronts?

I think the the big difference is Due Process, fair trials and appeals versus being just sent to the gallows on the whim of a dictatorial regime.

Wow, you are way off base here POP. We continue to execute "thousands" ? We probably should, but we only executed 18 in 2016 and 1,440 since 1976.

I believe what Rubio was talking about was the torture and imprisonment of Castros opponents and political dissidents, and those citizens murdered trying to escape.

How many opponents of Obama are we torturing? In prison? I'd venture to say none.

Is a revolution a success if it's still going on 57 years later? I mean, I'm just asking.

I generally try and give you some leeway in the stuff you post PoP but this is just dumb as a sack of hair. I have Cuban immigrant freinds that came over on the Mariel Boatlift Castro and Che executed her grandfather for the crime of owning a store and imprisoned her father for not wanting to be a part of the Cuban Army. There is no equivalence between Castros Cuba and the USA.

Castro sent all his criminals and lunatics her via boats for dumbass Jimmah to deal with. He purged Cuba's gene pool of all their **** ups. We should do it to California.

I am the repository of perfect genes, so the government should just send the pretty little snowflakes to my house for some "gene therapy."

A brutal dictator. RIH with the " H " standing for hell.

Castro history of taking the guns away first, confiscating all wealth, using the very poor as his pawns, and killing or jailing anyone who disagreed with him is not often told in USA history.

If you want current history, he ordered his fighter jets to shoot down the USA rescue plans in 1996.

Why all that Dancing in the Streets of Miami?

Fidel Castro jailed and tortured political prisoners at a higher rate than Stalin during the Great Terror. He murdered more Cubans in his first three years in power than Hitler murdered Germans during his first six.

Fidel Castro shattered — through mass-executions, mass-jailings, mass larceny and exile — virtually every family on the island of Cuba. Many opponents of the Castro regime qualify as the longest-suffering political prisoners in modern history, having suffered prison camps, forced labor and torture chambers for a period three times as long in Fidel Castro’s Gulag as Alexander Solzhenitsyn suffered in Stalin’s Gulag.

What is supremely hypocritical is the left praising Castro -- basically disavowing the Cuban refugee crisis of the last 40 odd years -- and at the same time telling us that we have to accept Syrian refugees en masse. Did the Cuban refugee issue just go away?

And Obama loves him.

Fidel has been dead for years, he just stopped breathing last week. The worst Castro years were a long time ago.
You completely change their form of government by getting island wide internet and cell phone service. The Caribbean
islands are our best trading partners, because we have trade surpluses with them. Improving relations just means jobs
and investment opportunities for the US. Most of these island economies are dominated by US hotel chains.

We could invade Cuba now without firing a shot.

Keith Ellison Praises Fidel Castro's "Mixed" Legacy: "He Stood Up For Peace And Freedom In Africa"

Candidate for chairman of the Democratic National Committee, Rep. Keith Ellison spoke with SiriusXM’s Karen Hunter on Monday about the death of Fidel Castro and his priorities for the Democratic Party.

"He was a revolutionary leader who confronted a system of government that excluded everybody except the military and the money-rich. And he took them on, defeated them and then set the country up in a way where…Did he use harsh dictatorial tactics? Yes, probably he did…but, did he also stand up for peace and freedom in Africa? Absolutely."

Black Muslims really love their dictators, don't they - Castro was good buddies with Idi Amin and Mugabe too. Peace and freedom in Africa my ***

What an idiot, but hey, he's the future of the Dem party, so they get what they deserve

They love those dictators until they have to live under that rule. It certainly paints a nice picture about who the left really are when they defend people like Castro. It's sad.

Cuba for statehood! I think that's why Republicans wouldn't want to invade.
The way it worked in Jamaica is the hotel chains buy up the best beach property, make their
money there and leave the rest of the inland to the locals.
