Fields to NYJ

I read that one of the local pundits said earlier today that the Steelers had moved on from resigning Russ. I hope not because I do not want Rodgers.

I hope we moved on from both of them.

Not that I think Wilson can’t play anymore, he’s just not a potential long term answer.
I think the last 5 weeks of our season was enough for me personally on the Russ front.

The entire team sucked the last 5 weeks of the season.
Agreed. Russ was the qb though. Some deem the qb as the leader. He was our SB winning Vet qb. He crumbled when we needed him to lead. Yep. I have seen enough of Russ.

There is currently no long-term answer out there, though.

Somebody has to play QB for the Steelers next season.

If the options are between Wilson and Rodgers, I'd prefer Wilson.

The Steelers offer to Fields was right in line with what I would've offered. The Jets aren't a great place to succeed and while Fields has the tools you want in a QB, him being a long-term answer was more wishful thinking than reality. With that said, I was hoping he'd return around $15 million a year. I wonder if the Steelers will sign a vet and draft Dart in the first round or accept their fate, build up comp picks and try to make a move for a QB next year. Potentially more talent in the draft, but a lot of those guys are unproven.

We've seen what Russ can and can't do here, so I'd rather kick the tires on an old/new car and sign Aaron to a friendly 2 year deal, plus plenty of ayahuasca tea to fill his basement as a signing bonus, then resign Kyle Allen, draft Tyler Shough, which may be in the 3rd or 4th.

No reason to sign Rodgers or Wilson to anything more than a one-year deal unless there are zero cap implications in year 2. Both are old and aren't the answer long-term, but rather stopgaps if they draft a QB this year or next year.
