Fire Todd Haley thread

So according to Andrew Filipino Haley on hot seat

Poni from 93.7 The Fan is tweeting that Todd Haley is on the hot seat. I read it on ESPN Sports and CBS Sports..

Says that Ben spoke on the show this morning that Haley screaming at him is nothing new. I heard that interview and Ben did say that in a laughing sort of way. He said you guys just don’t ever see it. He didn’t sound upset though.

This could get interesting if they put up another 20 spot Thursday night.

At this point, I'd be happy if Charlie Batch came out of the booth to take over this offense. I was on board with Haley for a long time, but when you struggle to score, struggle to score TDs in the Red Zone, and are so unimaginative on "O" with all that talent - just no reason for things to be that way.

Record aside, does this not seem like a team in a funk that ought to doing better? This reminds me of another time....

The Chefs were great out of the gate, the Saints are on a midseason roll, the Iggles are the most gconsistent team just past halfway, and the ******* Cheats are figuring their **** out. Blah, blah, blah. Only Bungles give out hats for midseason performance.

Regardless of his physical shape, Ben owes the Steelers, and fans, nothing.

It was 12 years ago that Ben dragged the Bus to his final game.
Maybe JuJu can do the same for Ben?
They could go 2-2 over the next 4 games, confusing us all.

I care about December and January.
I would relish Ben going into Foxboro in late Jan, ripping the electronics out of his helmet, running the hurry-up all game and beating the piss out of Marsha and Darth Hoodie.
And then he pulls the Elway/Bus routine the day after the SB.

Elway won 2 in a row to end his career ;)

I was on board with him too for awhile, but this offense is so unimaginative, with all this talent something has to give.
And him cussing at Ben because of his **** up? **** him.

Hot seat implies that he could keep his job. If he isn't fired by Friday its too ****** late. I can see him coaching this week, its a short week. There is really no decision here. You've known the guy a long time. You've pushed your chips in. Is this the guy you want holding the cards? Really?

Haley's time should be over, looks like he has lost the trust of his players. He definitely has lost the Fan's trust in his ability to call a decent 60 minutes game maximizing the talent available

Would you rather?

Lose Thursday if it means Haley gets fired?

Any coordinator that puts up less points than the Browns and 49ers against a pathetic Colts defense doesn't deserve a job in the nfl. Let alone the steelers.

Hard to argue with Ben looking less passionate, playing with less urgency and physicality.. it’s obvious and unfortunate and one of the biggest reasons our offense is struggling. That said, we are 7-2 and I’m hoping that with playoffs and possible championships in sight, Ben will find the old fire

Um hell no..wait let me think..**** no

Poni doesn't have any insider information. He was just trying to drive up interest in his radio show.

As for losing Thursday night to justify firing Haley, not a chance. That's just dumb.

And you know this how? Cook, Filipino, Savaran know a hell of a lot more than posters on a Steeler board. I wouldn’t discount this just yet.

What happen to the hurry up no huddle Ben making the call BS we have had to hear over and over. Every play five seconds or less snap the ball. I think we as fans can tell the play by now by the formation.

Maybe just maybe Bell isn't what he has been and maybe just maybe these great receivers aren't getting open so Ben has to drop off the ball for nothing to short gains. Maybe just maybe since no one cares for Jessie James he needs to be thrown to more or any of TE's in Tomlin's favor this week. Yes Haley is the man we have on hot seat but last I saw Tomlin wears a head set and sets the game plan, maybe Tomlin needs to change his same game plans . Thursday will tell a lot of what this coaching staff is worth as well as the players.

That will never happen with Ben at quarterback.

Not sure who to blame for the offense. I am sure Haley is at least partially responsible, but when Ben chucks it up instead of moving the chains cant blame Haley for Ben taking the low % play. Calling constant WR bubble screens and WR end arounds that do not work is on Haley. The drag routes, crossing routes, and slants seem to be our best plays, but we do not see them often enough. Another problem is the line is pretty crappy. Both OTs have struggled and I think Ben is worried about getting crushed. In general I do believe that better coaching would move this offense along, but there is no way the steelers would get rid of haley mid season.

Just let Ben call the offense.... put a coach in the booth to call down what the defense is doing and let Ben call the whole thing... he has always been best when knowing what he wants to do from the get go... take a look at our points scored out if the hurry up and 2 min drills... and most of our best plays the past few years have been audibles or broken plays anyhow

I wonder how many of these 'fire Haley threads I've seen over the years? I could only wish for such a thing to happen already. Why would the Steelers not fire him???

It's time for Haley to go. Every week, i see teams with far less talent putting up big numbers. Look at the Rams. They have a WR corps featuring guys the Bills didn't think were good enough, Watkins and Robert Woods. They also have Cooper Kupp.

Look at how completely inept the Rams were last year and how explosive they are this year. It's not just because they added Watkins and drafted a slot WR. It's because they are attacking all parts of the field. Vertical and horizontal.

Same with the Pats. Each week they attack the defense's weakness. One week they throw to the WRs, next week it's running, next week it's passes to TEs and RBs. It all fits together and the defense can;t focus on any one thing.

No team in the NFL should be able to confuse and threaten defenses like the Steelers. They have one of the better OLs in the game. They have the most versatile RB. The best WR. One of the best deep threats and JuJu who is becoming one of the top slot WRs.

This steeler offense can literally do ANYTHING they want. Despite that, it seems like each week their playbook has about 10 plays in it. Worst part is they are not actually good at anything.

4th and goal, game on the line. What play do they run? I have no idea because the steelers have no idea.

What do they do there? Probably go empty set and hope the defense forgets to cover AB.

I just got on this site about a week or so ago but I have a feeling you are somewhat sane. So, you can't honestly tell me that you think this team feels like a 7-2 team.

This 2017 schedule has to be the easiest schedules in the NFL.Out of the first 9 games only 3 of the opponents were truly playoff caliber - Minn ; KC ; Jax. The Vikings were off their game in week two, with Keenum completely clueless in his first start. Then they got their ***** handed to them by Jax. And against a KC a freak play went from a pick six for KC to game saving catch.

And the best QB we have faced threw for over 400yrds against us.

It's been a weird season. We might be 7-2 but I have yet to see this team look like the type of team that can beat NE in the playoffs.

And that's all that matters - beating NE. It doesn't matter if they end the regular season 14-2. All that matters is if they can beat NE in January.

And any sane fan will agree that they definitely don't look like a team that can do that.
