Fire Todd Haley thread

Once he became the Steelers' starting QB, supposedly Bradshaw called most of the plays for the rest of his career. And that was with a Hall of Fame coach.

No reason BR can't do the same. I think he usually has a better feel for what's going on than Haley anyway.

...but sometimes (Haley) just needs to let the reins go and make better calls (than) the stupid screen and the delayed run...

I hate the delayed run out of the shotgun. Rarely fools anyone.

I was watching a game recently where the team - I think the Saints - ran out of the eye. The QB took the snap and handed off to the back in the blink of an eye. No delay, no telegraphing the exchange -- you know, where the QB extends his arm as if to hand off the baton in a relay race.

The play-by-play man even called it "old-school running." Old school, schmold school. I'd like to see more of it.

Haley needs to pop in some game tape of the top 5 offenses. What they do successful.

Then put in our top 5 ****** O outputs-game footage. And start deleting some ****** playbook calls. And adding some new wrinkles.

I liked where you were going..

But I'm trying to decipher "top 5 wort O outputs."...

Translation, please.

Yinz caught it before I edited it!

But to answer

a wort grows on you, and one is usually disgusted with it. Much like Haley's play calling.

So we have to cut his boneheaded **** out of the playbook, and replace it with something anything that doesn't look like it was drawn up in crayon.

Dilly dilly.

The first and the third plays from this 1977 Cowboys-Steelers game are what I have in mind:

Another upside to winning the SB is that Haley would almost surely be offered a HC gig somewhere. Of course The Bruce went to two SB's as OC, winning one, and didn't get a HC offer.

About the "Bruce" it's because the rest of the NFL knew it was safer to keep him on the STEELERS coaching staff than the STEELERS possibly getting someone legitamite. The "Bruce" was able to hold down the STEELERS to ONLY winning one !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oddly The Bruce turned out to be a better HC than OC since he wasn't calling plays any more.

It's NOT coincidental that the "Bruce's) successes corillated to the amount of one armed **** flinging monkey rentals he acquired from me. My monkeys got to think of the "bruce" as a dipshit friend. When the bruce" left Pittsburgh my monkeys felt a loneliness of a lost companion.......

Good QB coach. Good WR coach. Good HC. Could draw up great pass plays. Lousy OC, couldn't call a game for ****.

Maybe just maybe for the first time in his announcing career Chris Collingsworth got it correct when he mentioned playing six games on the road hard to use the no huddle . Just saying. We all saw a much different game plan, on offense Thursday.

The road struggles are why people think its Haley, not Ben... at home its shown time and again that we audible into new plays or at least adjusted blocks and routes that are a success a lot... on the road we look like we telegraph plays and the D has us blanketed on routes and running gaps... thats telltale issues with playcalling, not execution... even when guys get open or a hole opens that is missed, its not working tge way its drawn up, because progressions in the pass play and holes in the run game are scripted to prioritize how they play should develop

Much of this is and has been whitewashed by Bell, Ben, and Brown all drawing out plays until something is open... but thats not normal ..

This also is played out in the red zone, where its harder to ad lib plays... much of what we do develops so slowly that the defense can react to it... the faster pace no huddle game gives Defensive coaching staffs less time to cross reference what we are calling and lets our guys on the field be in plays that the Players are comfortable are going to be open quickly ...

I always thought OCs should just advise from the booth and never be the sole playcaller... unless the QB proves they cannot handle it, that is

Is Chrisy also the that said helmet catches NEVER happen when in fact AB has done one earlier in his career ? I know the announcer has to speak right on the spot but that would cause me to reframe from making a "certainty" type statement. I guess he beats the heck outs Phil though............

The TD to Vance was an ad lib. It can happen in the red zone with enough time.

Better hope Brady gets hurt or something

He’s putting it on the Raiders right now. Cheats are unstoppable.

Wtf Haley. Is not running it up the middle with Bell on 1st and goal from the 3 not good enough???
