First time this November!!!

IF you would like a relaxing day.....and hopefully the weather cooperates...

The city of Pittsburgh has 2 very large inner city beautiful parks--

Frick and Schenely...
Originally set aside for the ultra rich Steel Barons...like your boy Carnegie, Frick, Mellon, and their fams..

From what I have been told---they are 2 of the top 5 "inner city" parks in the USA based on size...

And if you vist the Zoo and Aquarium as some suggested...take a walk through Highland Park...which is where the Zoo is located...another beautiful park...And steel dino's old haunt lol..

Hope you have an awesome trip, RED. I am from Canada and have made the trip to Pittsburgh several times in the last 18 years.
The guys on this forum offer some great advice on places.
Personally the Zoo and Aquarium, stadium tours, Gateway Clipper Fleet, Incline and food experiences were awesome things I took part in while in Pittsburgh.

My grandfather was from Cardiff and my mother a war bride from WWII.
For the most part people in Pittsburgh are quite welcoming and make it a fun time.

How did you become a Steelers fan?

Have a beer at Lefty's on the Strip. Interesting dive bar. Seen some interesting things there when we make our now annual pilgrimage. I am not in either picture FYI.

Damn, I thought I remembered it being closer. Good to know. Thx Ron.

The more our memories fade, the further the actual memory is……………

ADD white lightning to that equation, and things really get fuzzy………..

Wow! Thx for all the replies.
What is the street name of the strip, so I can Google Earth it?
Tailgate - yes please.
P Bros - as above.
Incline - as above.
A gun range?
The best burger house?
Stadium tours, PNC also?
Best place for merch?
Where do locals go for a beer?

I'm going with my son who is 25 (for 7 days), he's going for the food though :)
Are there any bird and wildlife sanctuaries?

Dave .. .
Hey sir,

We'd love to have you at the Terrible Tailgate. It's all you can eat/drink. Starts 5 hours before kick off. You can visit www.terribletailgate.com for details.

I'm coming over from Wales for the Titans game on Nov 2nd (my birthday too). 3610 miles.
It'll be my first game attended and I'll be spending the week in Pittsburgh.
Any ideas on activities and general tips would be appreciated.

Dave....
HERE WE GO! Enjoy your trip

There’s an aviary not far from the stadium.
The aviary is pretty cool and cheap. I was there with my gf and daughter last year. They have special encounters though which are costly. We did the penguin one and the guy let's a penguin waddle around and you can pet it. They also have a sloth one where you can feed a sloth. There is a place called powdermill nature reserve its a pretty nice area. https://carnegiemnh.org/visit-powdermill/ My uncle did a few lectures there. There are alot of state parks and what not in the area as well. Pittsburgh has a zoo, but i am not too fond of it. The aquarium and rainforest areas are pretty new and nice, but the rest of the zoo is kinda run down and in need of major overhaul

The NFL first started being televised in the UK in the early 80s. It didn't catch on with me.
Long story short I gave it another try in 2015, and chose a team.
I chose the Steelers as their colours were similar to my soccer team. ( https://www.newport-county.co.uk/)
I did some reading and realised Pittsburgh was an industrial town much like my region of Wales. It all fitted.

I'm about a 20 minute drive from Cardiff.

You chose well. Lot of history, tradition, legacy, etc., with this team. Not many other teams can say this.

There is a ton to offer in Pittsburgh. If you want a sense of the history of the city, the Heinz History Center and Sports Museum and Carrie Furnace tour would be two of my must dos.

Stadium tours are probably a cool idea. The Steelers just opened up a Hall of Honor Museum at the stadium.

Strip District - Primanti's, Pamela's, Kelly O's, Deluca's (breakfast spots), 'Burgh and Bites food tour. You'll be able to find Pittsburgh merch here as well. The Heinz History Center is an awesome local museum with a sports museum inside as well.

Market Square - a bunch of restaurants in downtown. Millie's Icrecream and Milkshake Factory are nearby.

Northside - A lot of museum options. Carnegie Science Center and the National Aviary. If you're looking for something a little different, the Andy Warhol Museum, Mattress Factory, or Randyland are good spots to hit.

Station Square - shopping and restaurants, Gateway Clipper (cruise the river), the Inclines to Mt. Washington

Oakland - University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University. Cathedral of Learning, Carnegie Museum of Natural History, Carnegie Museum of Art, Phipp's Conservatory, Schenely Park

Elsewhere - Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium. I'd also HIGHLY recommend the Carrie Furnace tour. It's a tour of an old steel mill and really highlights the history of Pittsburgh.

Into the outdoors? Drive about 1 hour 15 minutes to Frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Water. Down the road from there is the state park Ohiopyle with a ton of great hiking trails. Jonathan Run Trail (and some offshoots) is a great waterfall hike. Ferncliff Trail is an easy hike and Meadow Run Trail goes by natural water slides and a couple of other cool sites. A longer hike is Baughman Trail, which goes to a nice overlook.

There are probably a ton of good burger places, but I like Moonlit Burgers in Dormont. They're smash burgers and are pretty good.

You just made me want to visit the 'Burgh. It's been a while. Only 142 miles for me.

Wales manufactures some excellent rigging and climbing gear that I purchase often from DMM & ISC for doing trees
Some of the most expensive stuff around ....... but it is great quality

Fill your luggage with as much as you can carry and drop it off at SLASH's house......... he will gladly pay you ........... and I can pick it up on my next trip to the BURGH ..... lol

Seriously though
Have a good trip

Stay away from a guy called BOB...........
