Game 2 - 49ers...Tomlin scouting report

Brown should have thrown the ball away. He has practiced plays like that hundreds on times in his career, and he's probably been told at least 100 times: "You are not Ben Roethlisberger. If it's not there, just throw the damn ball away".

T borrow a phrase from Tom Jackson, "come on man". Brown should not have been put in that situation to have to make such a decision. He's a receiver and perhaps the best one in the NFL. Let him do what he does best and that is get open, catch the ball and score. Let Ben do what he does best. Throw the ball to AB. Haley thought he would get cute and lets look at Todd the genius. Dumb *** got a little too cute when all it would have taken was to keep doing what got them to the 24 yard line.

Like AL said if it works it's a great call sorta like when we beat the Seahawks in the super bowl. It didn't work so now we fuss.

That year they ran that play from near midfield. Not from the 24 freaking yard line. Also, that game the Steeler offense, the passing game in particular, was stagnant and it needed some spark. This was the opening drive in which they ran 5 plays, 3 runs, 2 passes gained 56 yards and didn't have to convert one 3rd down in the process. So what do they do? Call a gadget. I don't care if it would have worked, it was a stupid call.

Why even take the risk when you're running all over them. Trick plays are generally used when other stuff ain't working. We were kicking their *** and didn't need to throw the offense out of rhythm. I would not have agreed with the call even if it had worked. That was not the time to call a trick play.
