WE HAVE A HEARTBEAT! Why oh why is every game a Friggin Heart Attack? I gotta be honest I had no confidence in this team to beat the Rats @ home today....in fact I was mentally prepared for a complete *** kicking on the road in Turd Town South! Steelers offense didn't look much different than it has all season but against a below the line Ravens Defense the Steelers offense led by Aaron Rogers was able to do just enough to get the win today. Rogers completed some nice throws downfield to DK Metcalf especially in the first half. The offense still looks one dimensional with no running game to speak of 15 carries for 34 yards. I still can't believe that this offense basically uses only half the football field to move the offense. Just imagine they might actually look like contenders if they use the entire field. I did see one throw over the middle today an incompletion to DK Metcalf that went off his hands.

Defensively they are still hard to watch they gave up 217 yards on the ground again today. Gave up 436 total yards today to Baltimore. There were a couple players who stood out today on Defense. Saw several times Patrick Queen getting stuck in the wash on the running game instead of shooting the gaps where the ball carrier was. It allowed for some big runs by Baltimore. Nice hustle play today by Joey Porter to knock that ball away from Likely on the endzone throw. Joey Jr who IMO got fleeced on a couple of penalty calls came up with perhaps the biggest Defensive play of the game....one that will get overlooked.

I gotta give props to Corliss Waitman who was much better punting today than he has been the past 2 weeks averaging almost 50 yds per punt today. Carson Breuner is a very good special teams player....couple big tackles today on punt & kickoff coverage.

So the Steelers are 7-6....still not sure this team has any kind of identity.....up next the Miami Dolphins @ Pittsburgh.....The Question remains will the Steelers fans boo Renegade again?

Tomlin hasn't lost the team yet....really thought he was close last week after that Debacle vs the Bills at home.

I said last week I didn't think this team would win another game this season.....they proved me wrong but they've got alot more to prove this season......

Time for the Steelers as a team to make a statement with a decisive win at home next week and then on the road in Detroit vs the Lions.

Steelers win those 2 games then I will become a believer and give Tomlin a little bit of a break but after this game I will say this was a road win against a Division Rival that is really just not a very good team!

For your reading pleasure....we pick it up in the 4th Quarter as Lamar connects with Zay Flowers on 4th down....giving the Rats hope as they are driving on the Steelers!

Per Tomlin's Post Game:
Darnell Washington - Concussion
Malik Harrison - Concussion
Andreas Peat - Concussion
Ben Skowronek - Ankle was able to return

Game Balls:
DK Metcalf - 7 rec 148 yds his best game as a Steeler
Aaron Rogers - 23 of 34 for 284 yards & 1 TD.
James Pierre - He's the modern day Ike Taylor.....always seems to be in the dog house but makes the plays when it counts! 5 tackles, 1 INT, 2 Passes Defensed today
Brandon Echols - He's another guy having a good season...couple big plays early including a sack an pass defensed
Alex Highsmith - 7 tackles, 1 sack today....A game ending sack on 4th down to give the Steelers the win!

Game Goats:
Mike Tomlin/Arthur Smith - Going total turtle ball on the final offensive drive......cmon man play to win the game! Throw the damn ball!

FU's:
NFL Officials - TJ Watt was MU@@ED on several rushed in the 4th Quarter.....not one penalty against the Rats. UNREAL! They also fleeced Joey Porter on a couple penalties in the first half....BS!
John Harbaugh - This mother ****** is the Biggest ******* Crybaby except his brother! **** YOU CRYBAUGH!

andrus peat went out with a knee. where did the concussion come from?

also..

We got all these new funky anti concussion helmets.. Why does it seem there are more concussions?

Game Balls:
Aaron Rodgers - That is the version of Rodgers than can win a playoff game.
DK Metcalf - Huge plays today.
Joey Porter Jr. - Half of this board is trashing him because refs called two questional penalties on him. He had the defensive play of the game and has been playing good football this season.
Brandon Echols - Terrific game today.
NFL Refs - Thanks for calling the Ravens TD incomplete.

Game Goats:
Run defense - started off strong against the ancient Derrick Henry, then the Ravens turned it on in the second half.

FU's:
Mike Tomlin and staff - win a playoff game.

A win on the road against the Ravens, and I'm still annoyed. I think if I was on the sideline, I'd lose my shiit at Rodgers for all these throws short of the sticks. It feels like a give up on 3rd down. And he does it so much.

I assume Roman Wilson and Kaleb Johnson are wasted picks. Roman was apparently a healthy scratch and Kaleb has done little or nothing this season. What's the deal with our third round picks?

I don't think anything is wrong with Johnson. Warren and Gainwell are doing fine as the RB1A/B. Gainwell is having a career year.

The Steelers are clueless when it comes to the passing game and putting their receivers in situations to succeed, so it's a tough evaluation.

The more I think about this game, the more I think we were lucky to win. It's not a satisfying win. I'm really happy that it was the rats. It just felt like the out mistaked us.

Not trying to be negative here, but we have had satisfying wins. This just wasn't one to me.

Lamar didn't play well. Our run defense gave up an alarming amount of yards. We won but it wasn't convincing. We could barely run the ball. Miss Pei says running the ball wins championships.

As of right now we have the 2nd highest strength of victory among AFC playoff teams. Not sure what to make of that.

Nothing, because the lower teams tend to score higher. Also it don’t mean Jack-**** come playoff time.

Although it’s a nice stat, that stat will take us no where.

Salute the nation

A wins a win, no style points. I knew the Steelers were going nowhere for about the last 6 weeks. So beating the Rats today was my SB. They are definitely using up Lamars best years and King Henry is about a year at most from becoming the Duke that was at Epstein Island one too many times.

These games are always close, so I'll take the win no matter how we get it. There were a solid 2-3 very questionable calls that went in our favor as well. In terms of the bigger picture, today's result doesn't alter the idea that the Steelers need to move in a new direction at head coach.

Happy they won although surprised but when you put this in perspective, both teams are bad.
Steeler defense is the worst against the run that I’ve ever seen a Steeler defense. Pass defense is not good either.
The offense only had 34 rushing yards which is horrible and limits your offense.
Aaron had an efficient afternoon and Metcalf came up big.
The winner of this crappy division looks like 9-8 and one and very done in round one of playoffs.
I’m not investing in this team one bit.
I think the team has entirely too many flaws and were damn lucky to escape with a win today.
Tomlin’s heralded defense still can’t hold a lead and damn near blew this one let us not forget.
I still think Tomlin and his staff need to go after this season and a rebuild of the roster is needed.

And then on the opposite side of the ball our D simply gives up the yards on every third down regardless of how many yards is needed.

I've said it before, but part of Tomlin's legacy here is our defensive inefficiency on third down, particularly when the distance is big.

How many years have we seen this? I would not blame Rodgers. We turtled up the second half and held on for dear life.
Gameballs - Rodgers and DK they started off strong. Nice to see some bombs. Echols might be our best defensive player right now.
Goat - Tomlin / Smith for trying to give everyone a heart attack. Heyward knocked the ball out of Lamars hand well after the play and could have been flagged. Even the last sack i feel Heyward did a late plop.
FU - Raven who are now 67

It’s only been happening for over a decade under too many QBs and coordinators to count, but yeah go ahead and blame Rodgers instead of the one constant over all these years …..because it’s you and it’s what you do here….

The Steelers have the lowest average depth per target in the league since 2019, I believe.

They attacked vertically a lot more today, but Rodgers isn't getting that kind of protection every week. Though the pass blocking has been better overall, the Ravens might have the worst pass rush in the league right now.

There's still little in the middle of the field, and the running game remains inconsistent.

However, "Tomlin-ball" looks awesome when the fade passes down the sideline are working, which is maybe three or four games a season.

Something tells me Rogers went off script and is in the dog house this week. He threw long and he threw over the middle a couple of times.

This is still a bad team in a ****** division and the Steelers will make the playoffs due to Burrow's injury and the hole it dug for that team. The Steelers will get another Tomlinship, AFC North Champs, be grateful you unappreciative Jagoffs and relish in the gory of another non-losing season and drafting in the high teens or low twenties for almost two decades. Sign Tomlin to another four year extension quick!

But to be fair, this is who the Ravens are this year. It had been 8 games since Lamar had a rushing TD (that's games he's played in). Derrick Henry almost seems like he's on a snap count, not just this game. Their WR are at inconsistent as ours, their defense as suspect as ours. Lamar is showing what he is when he can't be that electric runner he has been in the past, whether it's injuries, age, or a combo of both catching up...he's not the same. And Harbaugh is having his worst year coaching, just dumb decisions over and over.

This game wasn't an anomaly, it's their identity this year, much like our jekyll and hyde team. Two average teams battling out for who gets to lead a bad division...

Wah, wah, wah. You incessantly whine...it's what you do here.

You can't do math, either. Over a decade would be around 2015 or so let's say. It wasn't happening then. It's either a dumb statement or hyperbole. You decide.

I get the safe play when they got the ball late and deep in Their own territory. Making the Ravens burn their TOs was the right play. But in the drives before that? Some of that is on the QB. He is out there making the decisions. You act like every route was short of the sticks. They weren't. And he had time.

If Rodgers stood back there, handed the football to a defender and watched laughing as he scored a TD, you still find a way to blame Tomlin. But hey, it's what you do here. It's comedy, however, so keep it up.
