Game Balls, Game Goats & FU's...................vs Lions

- James Washington is a disappointment… i backed thst guy early but he isn’t making the contested catches…. Isn’t getting open deep and isn’t blocking worth a damn… he had several chances to make huge plays and failed
I'll continually say that this is a guy who fans want to be more talented than what he is. Despite what some say, he doesn't make the tough catches and he doesn't get open enough. Way too many forced balls to him down field on third-and-manageable situations today. Didn't even come back to the ball well enough to draw a DPI.

It's HIS JOB TO BE READY AT ALL TIMES....He has ONE ******* JOB...
And I'm sure he was ready. That wasn't the discussion. Being in synch was. I seem to remember the SteelerNation excuse factory for Ben early in the year when he was missing guys all over the place. Still does, really, albeit to a lesser degree than game two.

Rudolph is a back up. It's like people expect him to step on the field for the first time in game 9 of the season and the team not miss a beat. I think that's unrealistic. Add to it the weather, a team full of over rated talent and a coaching staff that sets no one up for success and you get what you got today. Back ups are back ups for a reason.

The absolute bottom line is this offense lacks any true deep threat… and we need it so desperately… I cannot believe the staff cannot see that

Thank you. Good lord with the "he wasn't ready". He's a backup quarterback in his 4th year. His entire existence is based on being ready in case someone has to leave a game at a moment's notice. If he can't be ready by now he needs to find another career.

What exactly was he not ready for? He made some plays and missed some. Others players did the same. Coaches **** the bed.

The loss was surely a group effort, He made some plays. He made some terrible throws to wide open receivers. Even a couple that were caught were ****** passes to wide open receivers who barely came up with the catch.

This idea that if he just got some more playing time he'd be better is what I'm objecting too. Mason has been Mason for four years, he's never displayed any glimmer of greatness and I don't expect that will change. We should have won this game in spite of him but he's certainly not an answer for us long term.

Honestly, if you were watching this game and somehow unaware which team was winless, and which team was about to be in first place in its division with a victory, you couldn't have told them apart. You could have put Lions uniforms on the Steelers, and vice-versa, and no one would have known the difference. One of the shittiest games I have ever watched, and fitting that it ended in a tie...neither of these clown shows deserved a win today.

One (dis)honorable mention that deserves to be pointed out above all others: Green sure was right on with his jersey number selection, because he looks like a carbon copy of #53 snapping the ball all over the goddamn place, just like last season.

Yeah I was a fan, but either my homerism is off the charts, or he's seriously regressed. I'm sure the lack of playing time earlier in the year and his displeasure about it isn't helping, but he used to have sure hands, could combat catch and at least block reasonably well.

See, I don't think he ever did any of those things as well as some believed. I think that's the homerism and liking Washington's blue collar work ethic coming out.

The entire defense is a goat because, again, they failed to produce a turnover. Why is it that our defense intercepts a pass about once a month?

And the refs deserve a F/U for whistling plays dead after penalties that should not have been whistled dead. They did it at least twice, it didn’t impact anything but could have and is unacceptable for NFL refs.

I agree with everything except Freiermuth's fumble costing a chance at a FG. Pretty sure the clock runs out before we can clock the ball.
aren't you forgetting about the REFS stopping the clock to confirm it was a catch.......saving us valuable time on the clock to kick the winning field goal

Is a "deep threat" going to be even MORE efficient catching balls 2 yards past the L.O.S.?

You mean like every backup vs the Steeler ever?

Not only did Wig not drink himself into a stupor, he comes back with arguably the best post of the day!

It's Haegs job to back up Turner.. if Haeg **** the bed today, you would cut him slack. . Yes you would. GEL,. We're all still waiting for this line to GEL. If Najee was hurt in the first quarter and McFarland was his back up , you would cut him slack. Well,. He's not Najee,,,,. Etc.
Fact is Ben was 21 of 39 last week vs bears. 205 yds. Mason was 30 /50 for 242 yds and 36 yds rushing.
Yeah Lets make mason throw 50 times. He did fine,.

I'm not sure about Muuth getting a goat there. The play was dumb. We had to get out of bounds. He was heading in that direction. Even if he didn't fumble, there was a very slim chance we would have been able to get players on the field and get a kick off. And, it was even slimmer Boz was going to make a kick in that weather from close to 60 yards. I'll give Muuth the benefit of the doubt on this one but he did have a drop and a fumble in the game. So, maybe that is worth the goat. They should have been throwing to him down the middle all game but we never seem to call those plays anymore.

I still think Miller needs to be brought up as our No. 3 or 4, even when Claypool is back. Washington was iffy last night. He got open a couple of times and Rudolph threw line drives right at him in coverage. The defender was right there. They were bad/dumb throws and Rudolph was just hoping Washington could come down with balls he threw into the back of a defender. Those throws and the wide-open misses by Rudolph killed the team from putting up at least 10 more points.

I think some of you are forgetting the rain element it did factor in. On Muth he catches that the game ends. So his fumble didn't really cost the team a win. Playing it safe contributed. 19 seconds before the end of the game you take a knee? Oh we'll just go to overtime. If Mason gets your distrust that much ******* bench him. A bomb could get you a pass interference and a field goal win. A long throw Int gets you a punt. For me that and that goal line pass pass pass **** was major fails. DJ holding the ball like a school girl playing on her cell phone irked me too. Horrendous tackling in defense gets honorable mention. So from this it was a complete team failure from coaching down to players. The D gets a pass as 16 points will win you most games. Coaching and Offense get my top fails.

His snaps were off target for sure. It was odd to see because he has been so consistent with Ben for every game up until yesterday. Maybe it’s comfort with where Rudy likes it? Who knows.

Green hasn't been consistent with Ben, either. Not two-feet-over-his-head bad, but unsteady. Especially noticeable in the Bears game.

Well, ****, our supposed HOFer center, Pouncey, sailed one way over Ben's head last year that basically sent that entire game in a bad direction. And, he had been very inconsistent with his snaps for a couple years. So, I'll give the rookie Green a shot.

I agree with your points but can I also call out my man Pressley Harvin for his 60 yard punt and TD saving tackle. Even if a TD was soon forthcoming.
He out kicked the coverage that led to the return that he had to stop.

Not sure why anyone would be surprised by this outcome

While Rudolph did not play as everyone seems to think he is required to, he wasn’t even in the top 5 reasons this game was lost.
