Game Balls, Game Goats & FU's.................vs Panthers

Definitely. He was in the backfield heading for Cam on the one reverse type play and had the guy 10 yards behind the line and whiffed. The good thing is he kept containment and the dude had to cut up the middle of the field. If he can start finishing more of those plays, wow! I know he had at least one sack last night but he hit Cam many times.

Keeping the containment was a big improvement for him. I will take that over going for the tackle and leaving the outside open. If it is a big run, it is on the guys in the middle

Well make it three solid football games in a row for our Steelers in all 3 facets of the game once again, and IMO this was the best yet! This team is playing great football right now.....I just hope they haven't peaked too quickly and can keep this up the rest of the season and playoffs. This offense is really starting to click under first year OC Randy Fichtner. This was suppose to be a tough Carolina Panthers team coming into the Burgh that everyone thought would roll our Steelers. Gotta give credit to coach Tomlin he has this team focused playing good fundamental football and tonight I think our Steelers only had 2 penalties. Alot of players contributed to this win on special teams, Defense & Offense. Great win....hopefully they can rest up over the next 10 days.....Conner gets out of the concussion protocol and as for LeVeon Bell.....your on the clock now.....it's time to show up and provide us the push needed for the playoffs and beyond!

Game Balls:
Ben Roethlisberger - Another perfect QB rating 22 for 25 328yds 5 TD's. Make that the 4th time he's ended the game with a perfect QB rating
Steelers O-line - Another great job protecting Ben....he had all day to throw back there today.
Antonio Brown - Showoff on the football field and not the highway AB. 6rec 96yd 1 TD
Javon Hargrave - He really collapsed the pocket today on the Panthers O-line....this was his best game as a Steeler IMO
JuJu Smith Schuster - 3 rec 90yds & 1 run for 14yds
Vance McDonald - 4 rec 44 yds 1 TD
Cam Heyward - Along with Hargrave he did a great job getting pressure on Newton
Vince Williams - Pick Six & Sack
John Bostic - Got consistent pressure on Newton when he rushed the QB
Roosevelt Nix - Had 2 receptions and forced the fumble on the kickoff

Game Goats:
James Washington - Putting him here because he was the only Steeler player without a reception. I keep waiting for him to breakout....he looked great in the pre-season....not sure what the problem is now.....hoping he breaks out soon!
Artie Burns - Gets in during garbage time and has one HUGE Pass Interference penalty vs the Panther's #3 WR and he looked really bad on that play in coverage.

FU's:
Eric Reid - **** this punk *** puke! Kneeling for the National Anthem and taking a cheap shot at our franchise QB! **** YOU REID!

Very good. I'd add Boswell as he was good on a long field goal.

Berry must have needed woken up when he made his first punt in the 4th. It sucked!!! But he did hit a 53yd punt after that so. he's more neutral in my book. Like Boz missing an XP...

I don't usually post in this thread but the both lines as a whole were phenomenal.

And I have to give credit to all the coaches that most of us on here roasted when they were not playing well and wanted fired. Tomlin, Butler, Fichtner and all the rest deserve a hell of a lot of credit for holding this team together and fixing the mess that they were the first few games this year.

I will concur although I reserve the right to change my mind if we drop a gimme game or get badly outcoached by Cheaty mccheatriot again

My thumbs-ups at the end of the night...

- Tomlin et al have put together a critically important 5 game win streak and the Steelers have their swagger. While it's true he gets that "Deer in the Headlights" look so often, it also means he, wait for it... wait for it... doesn't blink.

- Boz quietly put together a nearly perfect night. He did, at one point, have a fairly short kickoff but I assumed that was because his leg was tired from kicking so darn much.

- JuJu continues to make plays that force teams to keep him in mind. While defenses are obliged to either double or safety-over-top Brown, they also need to find a way to keep track of Smith-Schuster.

- Is it just me, or is the defense actually getting better each week?

- James Conner demonstrated once again that he can simply impose his will upon a defense. Quite a few of those yards aren't realized by "another" back. LeVeon is shifty, but he doesn't do 1/2 of what Conner does after 1st contact.

- Just when you start to forget about the TEs Vance McDonald trucks into your linebacker or safety and carries him 4 or 5 more yards, free of charge. And then when you are all paranoid about Vance, there's old reliable James, just workin'...

Wait, these are posts about LAST game. I thought we were only to discuss the NEXT game?

Lots & Lots of positives. The biggest is "TEAM" has been put back into this team.

Salute the nation

You stole Coach's thread!! He's going to be pissed!!

His snaps were up, since this was a running team. They got down by multiple scores, putting them in passing situations, so no need for Hargrave all the time.

Though you're not good at realizing game situations anyway, I mean Hargrave was in on 65% of the defensive snaps (during a blowout even when they pulled starters in the 4th). Only 4 less snaps than Heyward and 7 less than Tuitt. But you read 'Hargrave' paired with 'limited snaps' and get triggered without understanding that he was in for a significant majority of the game on D...
