Game Balls, Game Goats & FU's...........week 1 @ J-E-T-S.....JETS, JETS, JETS!

So far yes.
I do not think the jets are a bad team.
Thier Def is way better than most
That isn't the question though. Is their offense that good?

Jaylen Warren wasn’t a goat, per se, but all he can do is run in a straight line really hard, and when they aren’t there, he runs into the backs of his OL instead of being patient.

The sooner Kaleb Johnson becomes the lead dog, the sooner the run game will look better.

Outside of those mentioned, flowers to Jonnu Smith, too. Baller.

Sorry. Probs not. But they match up well against the Steelers obviously.
Hopefully this was a game that got the rust off the starting d.

Broderick Jones played damn near as bad as possible. Hopefully the First round kid can plug the run better. Can't be worse. I think with or without him they need to put Holcombe in on run heavy downs. They have two ILB trying to move around blocks instead of taking them on.

his body language while blocking is that of a high school kid.

Game balls

Jalen Ramsey. Won the game with that hit.

AA-Ron 4 TDs 0 INTs

Boz. He’s $$$

Tomlin. He knows how to win close games.

CA3. Stepped up big.

There were lots of things to find fault with but it was a WIN in week one. Hopefully adjustments will be made and injuries weren’t too bad.

Lots to be concerned about, but if we’re being honest, how many people thought we’d see the types of issues the Steelers had today and thought they’d actually win the game? I would have said no way.

Rodgers, first Steelers Qb to throw 4 TD in a game since 2020. First opening drive TD since 2023. There were positives too. And for those saying this or that couldn’t be worse, I assure you, they can. It can always be worse.

As bad as certain aspects of the game were for the Steelers, a lot of things went right. And they got a win in a situation they certainly would have folded in recent years.

I’m usually a pessimist, but I saw things today that make me optimistic. While the Oline certainly isn’t one of those things, there is a bonafide field general in a Steelers uniform. Boz might be better than ever. CAIII can get open and make catches. If this defense can be even average this team will be pretty darn good. The Steelers stole one today. Sometimes you need one or two of those.

Game balls

Boz is the man. that kick looked like it would have been good from 70 yards. PAY THE MAN.

A Aron looked like he had complete control of this offense.

Jalen Ramsey. looks like a great trade so far.

Goats

The entire offensive line. they do know they are supposed to at least get in the way of a defensive player right?

Cam Hayward I didn't even know he was on the field for most of the game.

The running backs, take your pick.

F.U's

Mike Tomlin. you do know half time is used to make adjustments right? for a defensive minded coach (lmao) your highest paid defense pretty much sucked today.

The offense was better than I expected for A-Aron and DK not playing in preseason.
The defense was worse than I expected, although The League's Highest Paid Defense will never be great as long as Shades and Austin are running it.

Johnson looked no where close to a RB1 today, Warren did look flawed as the starter today, not good

Rodgers CANNOT get hit like he did today every game, he will go down with an injury. A running game and better oline play has better happen fast

first opening drive TD in an opening game in 16 years.

We spent $185 million on defense… but what we REALLY needed to do was spend $ 1 million on a NEW defensive coordinator. Could someone please explain to me HOW Tyrell Austin keeps his job year in and year out with the most underperforming and expensive defense in the NFL ?

Not much to add other than a FU for Fieldturf. Elliott's injury looked bad; hopefully he didn't tear anything.
Sadly, it looks like an LCL injury. It's why he could walk on it, then as he approached the tent he pushed laterally and limped again. I don't expect good news here.

For the money we paid Heyward, I expected more out of him today. Fortunately, he got a timely batted ball that was nearly intercepted, this is something Heyward always excelled at.

For as much as this page HATED DJ for his drops, DK, our highest paid offensive player, dropped 3 balls today. One bounced off his own payer and landed back on his stomach on the ground, but he has to be better.

Jones looked slow and confused. I am not looking forward to his matchup against Garrett.

Jalen Ramsey is a STEELER. He plays with intensity, passion, and has a high football IQ. Great job drawing the penalty at the end of the half to make sure they couldn't get a late score. Drew a penalty on an aggressive play that I don't think should have been called. Had a good pass defensed followed by a slobberknocker of a hit at the end of the game. Fields had an excellent game, and threw a great ball to convert a 1st down, until Ramsey separated him from the ball. This is what I haven't seen out of Fitz in the past 2 1/2 yrs, this is why we made out on that trade, and with Elliot probably missing time, expect Jalen to play more safety moving forward.

Again, The Tomlin haters saying he sucks without understanding what he does. Excellent time management at the end of the half to get a TD late, though we did call the TO WAY early at 37sec, when it should have run under 20 before it was called. At the end of the game, we scored again under 2 minutes to take the lead, and if you noticed the game scenario at the time on 3rd down. If we got a 1st down, the game was over, we salt the game and kick the winner with boz in the 30yd range. It looked like PI to me, but from what I've seen out of Tomlin's consistency as a coach, if he can win the game on offense with a 1st down, he ALWAYS goes for it, and that's why he's a consistent winner in tight games.

Skrow was excellent on ST and O today making plays.

I assume both our running game and run D will improve, today was terrible, but this is the first game of the season, and the first game time most of our starters have gotten this year. We will get better.

Remember, Austin is a highly regarded secondary coach, but at DC he was living off his laurels of one great season in Detroit ... he followed it with two lackluster seasons, then was let go in a coaching stafff purge
in his second stint in Cinci, he was fired midseason after being the first team in NFL history to give up 500+ yards 3 games in a row...

Yeaahh because his offense has been soooo good at engineering TD’s at the end of halves and games since Ben retired-until today. Tomlin has sucked for years at clock management

They score 17 points max and get blown out today without Rodgers. Let’s see if Tomlins staff and high oline draft picks can keep Rodgers healthy or not…

You call 90% of this board who want Tomlin gone a “Tomlin hater”…so I’ll just call you a Tomlin jizz guzzler, fair enough? Why don’t you wipe it off your chin on your next crappy podcast/youtube video you pimp on here, that might at least get you some clicks from the woke crowd on here. Because calling the overwhelming majority of people who want Tomlin fired “haters” probably isn’t the way to build your subscription base you pretentious douche

Simple. Austin isn't really the DC, Tomlin is and everyone knows it. Three different DC's in the last ten years and the defense hasn't changed.

Defensive back doesn't get credit for knocking the ball away on one or two of those "drops"?

Mike Tomlin - We won today despite this guy! Most Overrated Head Coach in NFL History! No Gainwell should not be in the backfield on 3rd down especially in an obvious passing situation!
Classic Tomlin moment here:

Steelers up 31-26. 7:12 left in the game, Jets have the ball 4th-and-goal at the 1. Heyward's fat *** is injured, so the clock is stopped. He waddles off the field about 90 seconds later. The Jets get up on the ball...Tomlin blows a timeout. What happens next? Fields prances into the end zone off of the play fake, with Watt running towards the pile in the middle and leaving the outside wide open. Now, during this crucial wasted timeout (which could have been very valuable in a 1-point game midway through the fourth quarter) wouldn't you have advised your best defensive player to perhaps be aware that Justin Fields might, just maybe, hold the ball on a bootleg play? And maybe, just maybe, instead of getting ready to jump on the pile in the middle of the field late and with no effect, to stay put and contain the edge?

Of course, I'm just another Tomlin hater who cannot understand the intricacies of his advanced football coaching pedigree.

Tomlin. He knows how to win close games.
lol

Yeah, all he needed today was for his kicker to make a pressure-packed, 60-yard field goal with a minute left on the clock.

Yeah….We can’t all be evolved enough to appreciate the genius of Tomlin, have our own podcast, but come here and alienate the 90% of the people who post here and think he should be fired by now by calling them “ Tomlin haters”-that takes a $40 mic from Amazon:sneaky:

Happens all the time with teams around the league. Most of these games are going to come down to a 1 possession win/loss because of the parody. Look at the scores from around the league including the Sunday night game. If you're going to be critical of Tomlin in the losses give him his flowers in the wins also. Its ok to take one day off from being a constant hater. The only thing I can give you credit for is at least you acknowledge youre a hater.

1) watt may not have been assigned to Fields on that play. It may have been a blown assignment by a LB for all you know.

2) There's something that needs to be said about player IQ. I was watching the Chargers/Chiefs play the other night and the Chargers are trying to run out the clock with less than 2 minutes left in the game. The rb gets the ball and runs it out of bounds and im thinking to myself from the comfort of my couch who has never played a day of organized football in my life "why in the world would he run out of bounds???". Tell me, why would a coach have to tell you that???

The same can be said about Watt in this situation. Let's assume he was assigned to Fields...where does his football IQ kick in to not allow a running QB to roll to the edge on a bootleg?

Austin does as he is told, and you will never convince me otherwise.

MT is the problem with the D, and has been since DL left.

Last year in our playoff loss to the Ravens after the game Watt was asked why he kept crashing down on Henry? He told the reporter because he was told to.

The real question then was someone assigned to take Jackson on the RPO? For an entire game no one picked up Jackson when Watt crashed down on Henry. Why?

Now against Fields....he runs the RPO and when Watt crashes down on the RB there again was no one there to pick up the QB. Why?
