Why oh why can't our Steelers ever win by multiple scores so we don't have to sweat it out week in, week out!

I didn't have this game down in the books as a win for the Steelers when the schedule came out but HOT DAMN BABY! It's been 3 wins in a row now for the Steelers since the Bills debacle @ home and this team is showing some signs of life in all aspects of the game. For the offense I think the additions of Thielen & Valdez Scantling are starting to allow the Steelers offense to spread out opposing Defenses instead of trying to go 4 wide with 3 TE's. Not to mention the O-line playing at a pretty high level too and the running game with Warren & Gainwell are seeing the benefits of that.

A great performance today by Jaylen Warren 14 carries 143 yards as the Steelers rushed for 230 yards against the Lions on the road! Aaron Rogers put together a solid game going 27 for 41 266 yds 1 TD. The Steelers had a couple miscues in this game that almost cost us in this one....specifically....Darnell Washington's fumble that took at least a FG off the board and Chris Boswell's missed FG with about 5 minutes to go that would have put the Steelers up by 8.

Defensively the Steelers held the #1 Offense in the NFL in check.....impressive performance against a team that has great weapons in Gibbs, St Brown and several other guys. It wasn't until the 4th Quarter that the Lions offense came alive and made it a game. Steelers offense converted some 3rd & longs today with a few nice catches by Thielen finding soft spots in the zone against the Lions.

Coming off a short week after a Monday night game I really didn't expect the Steelers to come away from Detroit with a win but they surprised alot of Steeler fans today and we will walk away from this one with a win and maybe a few more answers to some questions we've had about this Steelers team all season. I guess congratulations are in order for Mike Tomlin on getting his 200th win as a Head Coach. Someone needs to teach Chuck Clark how to catch a football.

Onto Cleveland and I just hope Dylan Cook can hold Myles Garrett in check....I'd hate to see him get the sack record against us....but If I had to choose between that or a win I'd take a win on the road in Cleveland! I'd love to see a meaningless Week 18 game vs the Rats. Maybe we could even get a glimpse at Will Howard getting his first start if the Steelers have already clinched the division.

Per Tomlin's Post Game:
Brandon Echols - Groin
Calvin Austin - Hamstring

Game Balls:
Jaylen Warren - 14 carries, 143 yds, 2 TD's - Bruce Arians would be proud....he was gaining yards in bunches!
Kenneth Gainwell - 9 carries 50 yds, 5 rec 78 yds 1TD....an unreal catch at the half and he had the presence of mind to get up and run to the endzone for the TD.
Aaron Rogers - 27 for 41 266yds, 1 TD
Steelers O-line - Blew open some nice running lanes for Warren & Gainwell as the Steelers had 230 yards rushing
Mike Tomlin - Good job having the team ready to play and Congratulations on your 200th career win as a Head Coach
Cam Hewyard - I know he's getting up there in age but he's sure as hell not playing like it!
Joey Porter Jr - Had a good game today.....kept the Lions receivers in check most of the game. 2 passes Defensed

Game Goats:
Darnell Washington - Costly fumble took points off the board for the Steelers.
DK Metcalf - Nothing in game but his altercation on the sideline with some ******* fan might result in his suspension at least for 1 game. Hope it doesn't hurt us! DUMMY!

FU's:
Refs - **** YOU! On that 3rd down pass on the final drive that Lions receiver did not have possession of that football. It wasn't a catch! The ball was clearly moving around! Way to keep the Lions in the game!

Game Balls:

Dylan Cook-I saw him give up 1 pressure today. Does Jones get his job back if he gets healthy?

Offensive line-created holes kept Rodgers mostly clean

Gainwell-he was our best receiver today

Warren-2 long runs to the house, give this man the ball 15 times a game!!! His number of carries this year is unacceptable

Defensive front 7-stuffed the run

FU’s:

Metcalf-that was a long walk from the bench to the stands, then trying to punch him? I’d consider moving on from this guy in the offseason, maybe someone will trade for him. If he gets suspended it’s a huge blow to us

I can basically just copy and paste. Really good list!

Game Balls:
Jaylen Warren - terrific to have a back capable of delivering big plays and he had two of the biggest of the season tonight.
Kenneth Gainwell - how about having two of those backs, probably catch of the year for the Steelers.
Offensive Line - tough start with Hutchinson making a play early, but this group settled in and looked terrific.
Aaron Rodgers - dude was money again today.
Joey Porter Jr. - really good game, saving his best play for last. Stop on the goal line saved the game.
Coaching Staff - Steelers came in this game and they were supposed to lose. The offense put up 27 points and outside of the 4th, the defense played lights out.
Derrick Harmon - the run defense is night and day when he's in the lineup. Detroit averaged 1.3 YPC.

Game Goats:
Darnell Washington - fumbled in the RZ, red zone OPI (although questionable), stayed in bounds, etc.
Kuntz/Waitman/Boswell - the entire operation on the FG attempt at the end was bad and could've cost the Steelers the game.

FU's:
DK Metcalf - why are you engaging with the fans?
Mike Tomlin and Coaching Staff - win a playoff game!
NFL Officials - Ref show tonight, borderline calls constantly went against the Steelers tonight

What a game. The Steelers turned the Lions into the kittens today at Aaron Rodgers Field in Detroit today.

Game Balls-Warren and Gainwell. They need to lock up Gainwell in the offseason.
Aaron Rodgers. Another great game. He is what is making this go
Adam Thielen and Scotty Miller, ok MVS. These guys are making a difference in the passing game. It's the little things they are doing that are making a difference. Thielen is a good run blocker and had a couple of nice possession catches that moved the chains. Scotty with that incredible catch. Damn. Toe tapping.
The Defense. They played as a collective without Watt and Herbig. Sawyer is really starting to figure this thing out.
HC Mike Tomlin. He seemed to have found young Mike Tomlin and actually found a little moxy in his coaching today. Without Watt it makes me wonder a bunch of things which I may expand on in another post. Also, securing another winning season. I hope they go deep into January and into February. I'll throw some flowers to Artie Smith and Teryl Austin as well. I have voiced my displeasure and criticism when deserved, but today, they deserve kudos.

GOATs- DK. No need to beat a dead horse

FU to the Steelers. These close games are too much. Palpitations, sweats, anxiety, unable to talk, making me sit at the edge of my seat. I seldomly drink but damn, today made me want to think of drinking and possibly take up smoking after that finish...lol. If the end result is a win every week, I'll take it over and over again.

"Why oh why can't our Steelers ever win by multiple scores so we don't have to sweat it out week in, week out!"

If the defense didn't totally blow in the 4th quarters they would.

GB Warren could not be happier for the guy gives it is all and gets zero credit from hugger Tomlin
Gb first for me the defensive line played well
Gb offensive line big night running the ball

Goat Tomlin if the game showed only him we would know where Steelers stood in the game. Talks of don't blink he sure does.
Goats our secondary make a play give up five easy open plays, tackling poor
FU Metcalf half hearted play then the bs with a fan
FU this officiating crew how many holding calls seemed no call on Detroit, pushing call on us had zero to do with play, called catch h for Detroit ball moving. how they handled last play before half and last play Godel should be proud.

Game Balls:

GOAT HC- had his guys ready and brought a solid plan and got a clutch win vs an opponent fighting for their playoff lives in their house
AS- called a solid game and had a good plan
Rodgers- he was on point and made everything go
The RB tandem- the two headed beast was absolutely dominant.
Thielen- clutch stick moving plays over the middle of the field (has Rodgers’ and Mike’s trust-may be the only target that can say that)
Scotty Miller- had his best drive of the season!
Cook and Anderson- playing excellent off the bench
The DL- holding their run game to next to nothing!
Sawyer- played well in his first start

goat: only one- DK you sucked out loud. Clown

FUs: the refs, obviously and DK

Forgot

Game Ball to every Steeler fan week in and week out on pins and needles. No way any of us can sit on the coach without up and down yelling at the coach, the players the officials. Getting up making comment here in emotional high response. Congrats to each of us and we all deserve the game ball.

Giving Tomlin a goat is borderline ridiculous. Just shows how hate blinds.

GameBalls - Warren, gainwell, cook. The whole defense shut down a very scary offense till the last quarter while battling injuries.
Goats - Long snapper. Hate to put this on here since he has been great all year, but the snap at the end was low and wide causing Boz to miss. Almost turned into a huge disaster. Metcalf had drops, grabbed a fan, and only had one memorable catch which was the back shoulder play. Washington had a costly fumble and went OB saving Detroit some time
FUs - Media making this game out to be controversial. The final play was PI and progress should have been called. The "catch" by the lions was more controversial. I thought it was incomplete but it was also not very clear Washington's PI was also iffy. I don't think it was a designed pick, but I can see why they called it.
