Well this game should have been a blowout considering the turnover differential of +4, however our Steelers always seem to let bad teams stick around with a chance to win at the end and this game was no different. Steelers were lucky to get out of New England with a win today as the Patriots had 2 costly turnovers in the endzone that took points off the the scoreboard for New England. The offense was terrible this week 202 yards total averaging 2.7 YPC running the ball and passing the ball and 6.0 YPA throwing the ball is not going to get it done week in week out in the NFL. I think alot of the offensive struggles have to do with the fact that we have Arthur Smith as our play caller. This guy is abysmal and overrated and they should be letting Aaron Rogers call his own plays! I didn't see Roman Wilson on the field once today......very disappointing because I think he can be a playmaker for us. I'm frustrated that we don't see 4 & 5 wide anymore. I think I saw 4 wide once today and we had 3 TE's out there with DK Metcalf. The goal of going 4 or 5 wide is to spread out the Defense and create space underneath. Your never going to be able to do that with 3 TE's....I'm sorry! I think Ben Skowronek got more snaps than Roman Wilson. Barely saw Calvin Austin out there today too and he's supposed to be our #2 WR. If he played 30 snaps I'd be amazed!

Defensively this team allowed 368 yds on the field but they created 5 turnovers which was the difference maker in this game. I paid extra close attention to Keanu Benton as many have wondered if he's regressed in year 3. After watching him today in the game it's obvious that Benton ha regressed....he was getting no push at all and kept getting pushed out of the play whenever he was in there. He had 2 positive plays where he beat a double team and got pressure and was in on the fumble that Wilson recovered in the endzone. There was nothing else good for him in this game.....nothing even average. He had less snaps in the 2nd Half especially in the 4th Quarter and Yayha Black or Dan Ekuale was in there in his place. After watching Benton today I'm 100% sure he shouldn't be a starter and I'm not even sure he should be a backup. He is absolutely ineffective out there! I'll also say Patrick Queen needs to learn how to tackle. After 2 games the Steelers had the most missed tackles in the NFL with 28 (RANKED 32nd) I think half of those missed tackles are by Patrick Queen and I'm not kidding! A shout out to Derrick Harmon for his first NFL sack today.

So were onto Ireland for a 9AM game next Sunday vs Minnesota......it'll be an interesting matchup to see how Flores game plans his Defense against Arthur Smith & the Steelers Offense! I don't expect much! Glad we got a win today but I'm not anymore confident with the Steelers going forward....I still see this team as a sub .500 team! I hope I'm wrong but all the issues after last week's game were still issues this week. They won because of 5 turnovers and I'll give credit to the Defensive guys who made those plays.

Per Tomlin's Post Game:
No significant injuries
Darius Slay had a contusion but was able to return

Game Balls:
Cam Heyward - The guy was all over the field today 6 tackles, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble, 1 pass tipped
TJ Watt - 5 tackles, 2 sacks and 1 fumble recovery
Brandon Echols - 1 huge plays today the INT in the endzone before halftime and the 4th down tackle in the open field on 4th & 1 to end the Patriots drive and seal the victory. 6 Tackles.
Jabril Peppers - 6 tackles 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery....not bad for a guy who's only been here 2 weeks
Cole Holcomb - 6 tackles, 1 forced fumble....I did see him overrun a key 3rd down play but the middle of our Defense seemed better when he was in there

Game Goats:
Keanu Benton - I'm not sure this guy should even get a helmet on Gameday anymore. He had no push the entire game and was blown off the line of scrimmage on 96% of the plays!
Patrick Queen - Yeah he had 10 tackles....but stats don't tell it like it is. I counted 5 missed tackles today....add this to the 28 we already had. Someone needs teach him how to tackle!

FU's:
Arthur Smith - This guy has gotta go! Oh how I miss the days of 4 & 5 wide! He's not a good OC!

holcomb missed the tackle in the backfield on 4th and short at the pats 15...his other stats are noll and void
That was the play he over ran. I'm not going to fault him for that. He didn't have many reps before today and the guy is coming off a knee injury that took 2 years to recover from. What's Patrick Queen's excuse?

Queen has been a disappointment so far

Like what I am seeing from Black

Didn’t see much of Harmon, could have been by design

I don’t think Smith’s Offense is as much of a problem as only being allowed to use a limited amount of it.

The D easily could have given up 35+ AGAIN today if not for the turnovers

Rodgers looks like he is getting ready to blow, I still say game 5

Benton I don’t understand except wonder if he is not being played out of position

I like the 3 TE set, but not how they are deploying it.

Game balls:
-Every defender involved in a forced turnover - this is why the Steelers won today
-Warren - subpar stats, but made the most of his opportunity

Goats:
-Mike Tomlin - permanent fixture here until the Steelers win a playoff game
-Pat Meyer - do something with all the investment in the offensive line
-Defense - when they weren't creating turnovers they couldn't get off the field and were getting shredded

They should have lost this game today. They didn’t win it as much as the Patriots gifted it for them.
Cam made two game saving plays… one on the end zone interception when he tipped the ball and the other when he caused the fumble at the goal line.
The OL stinks! They can’t protect the QB as Rodgers had little time. They also suck at run blocking.
Offense badly is in need of a WR2! We simply do not have one. Cal Austin is a #3 and Roman Wilson has been mia.
Defense still not good. Four out of five fourth down conversions. Plenty of third down conversions. Better on stopping the run than the past two weeks but still not good. Benton should never play NT ever again.
And they haven’t even played a good team yet and are extreme lucky that they aren’t 0-3.
Next week they will face their first good team and the Vikings won’t make the same mistakes as the young Patriots.
Brian Flores will have his opportunistic defense ready for Arthur Smiths’ predictable offense.
Kevin O’Connell will be more than ready having his offense ready for Tomlin’s porous defense. Also, Jordan Addison returns to the Vikings’ offense.
I don’t like the makeup of this cream and hate the coaching.

First game I've missed in years watching. I can see the same stuff and I only missed the same game type I've seen a hundred times.

At least I can grin at a few pats*** fans I know tomorrow..lol

**** that team!

Game Ball: Cam Heyward. The guy has taken a lot of flak the past few weeks but he was the best player on the field in black and gold today and we lose the game without all the turnovers he forced.

Game Goats:

-I’ll go with Rodgers assessment that the entire offense generally sucked today, they had 35 yards in the 2nd, 3rd, and half the 4th quarter combined. The oline was slightly better than week 1-2 and opened a few holes early by could not give Rodgers time to drop back and look deep

-Tomlins defense forced 5 turnovers but better teams won’t turn the ball over like that and will route us. Without the red zone turnovers the asterisks score over 30 just like weeks 1-2. The defensive scheming and overall execution sucked- some of it is in the players not making plays and some is in the schemes and coaching. 3rd and long has been an issue for going on a decade

I find it difficult to truly evaluate Patrick Queen when he's dependent on Wilson and Benton. Both are terrible and shouldn't be on the field unless the team is desperate because of injury. Queen produced in Baltimore when surrounded by legit nfl talent.

I can evaluate him. He's the *****.

Game ball - ENTIRE OL - no sacks given up today.

GOAT - A A Ron - you turtled up after going up 14-0 and you threw an INT; but you came back with the winning drive so, no GOATs for me...

Always take the W, but the process is bad and will come back to bite them. MOF wide open on defense, OL is just terrible. Everyone has regressed. That’s coaching.

Aaron has nothing available but the short stuff, and the two TD passes were pretty, but we need more from the passing game and unfortunately I don’t think the OL is going to get much better.

Remember, this is the “easy” part of the schedule, and we have a couple of close wins over bottom feeders to show for it. Minnesota is a huge step up in class.

Aaron still took shots and avoided sacks with quick throws. They are terrible. They play like 5 individuals, not as a cohesive unit. This is a Pat Meyer problem.

The problem is the Steelers paid Queen to be a playmaker regardless of the talent around him.

DK said after that Harmon was on a snap count.
