As we reported RIGHT HERE earlier this week, the Pittsburgh Steelers signed Clifton Geathers to add depth to the DL, following the season-ending injury to DE Brett Keisel.

Geathers joined his new team in practice yesterday, and seems to have ruffled a couple of feathers: a few punches were thrown.

Offensive Guard Ramon Foster seemed annoyed with Geathers: “He was probably working his butt off in his mind, but my story is that we just played (90) snaps last game. There is no sense in going that hard in practice,” Foster said, “I saw him push one of our guys to the ground and I lost it.”

As reported RIGHT HERE, rookie DE Stephon Tuitt will start, but Gaethers will see playing time if he picks things up quickly enough, as per Coach Tomlin.

"There's no sene in going that hard in practice "

That quote explains so much I don't know where to begin.....

Geathers has a different mindset. He is practicing and playing for his life right now. Maybe he needs to dial it back a bit in practice, but I like the effort. I can see both points. Knock someone out, just someone in a different colored jersey. . .

I never really did see what everyone was so pumped up about, over foster. I've thought he was a lard / lazy @ss, with slow feet. "no sense in going that hard in practice" This stick would just flucking make Jack Lampert explode!!!!!!!! I'm not even on the team and I work harder than that.

PS Maybe we need ten or more Gaethers, on the team!!!!!!!

They play weak and get beat by weak *** teams because they're soft and it seems they practice soft......this **** would never fly under Cowher.

The entire team should be jacked and be ready to punch someone in the mouth...that's how steelers used to play.

Not too long ago when we lost you just knew the next team would get a beating....truly sad.

Maybe that's what this team's problem. Whoa is me, I just played 90 snaps and I'm so tired.

or they'd at least show up, we lost to bad teams when Cowher was here too, not this often, but then even when we would lose to **** teams we at least looked like they wanted to be there. The Jets game, the Ravens 1st game, the Browns, and the majority of the saints game, we looked flat and like we didn't want to be there.

Foster, IMHO, is nothing more than a below average starter or quality backup. If he is tired after 90 snaps of getting your *** handed to you I would have him ride the pine and put Chris Hubbard in.

That is some bad shlit. You are as you practice and if this is the way they want to practice, then get guys who want to Flucking practice HARD !!!!! I always played sports with this as a motto "practice hard to make games easy" . NOT the other way around.!!! Ramon and I would be going at it all season, if I played on the same team as him.

We always had two hard nosed act as if it is game day practice then a walk thru the day before to mentally keep sharp. I see this being the problem with Tomlin is they have 3-4 walk thru practices and no hard nosed ones so when it is game time we are soft and get our ***** handed to us.

welp....guess ol' Troy wasn't too far off when he brought up practice being an issue, earlier this season.

didn't the CBA change the rules when it comes to live contact in practices?

Yep. Practice like a *****, play like a *****. That's pretty much it in a nutshell. Get used to being a physical "beat-the-other-guys-***-into-the-ground" team during the week and you play like that on the weekend. Otherwise you end up looking like the other side of those Ravens matchups.

I hate those ******** but they are Physical. They bring it. They lack strengths in a bunch of areas but one thing you can absolutely count on is that they are going to beat the living **** out of you and that you'd better be able to take that beating physically if you want to have a hope to beat them.

I still remember 1979 when we lost to the Bungles 34 - 10 when they were winless at the time, including two defensive scores on fumble returns - 9 turnovers in all by the Steelers. Over the next four games they took out Denver 42-7, Dallas 14-3, Washington 38-7, and Kansas City 30-3. Denver and Dallas were both in the playoffs that year, Washington was 10-6, and KC was 7-9, the only team in that group with a losing record. Those were the days.

Blammo, on the $, son. Greg Lloyd and James Harrison were notorious for practicing hard. I wonder if hey were any good? Now we have the Tomlin country club, and 3 non-winning seasons in a row prove how jacked that mindset is.

Foster just dug his grave on the Steelers fans eyes with that statement.

Well said.

The standard is the standard. And that's the standard Coach Dumbass Coolshades has set. That explains a lot.

Glad to see some others agree with my first thoughts. I am little pissed they aren't practicing hard and all out. That is why they suck on Sundays. You practice like you play or want to play. That is a piss poor attitude and is a major reflection on the ****** coaching.

First Troy's comment and now this; kind of telling. 3 of the 5 starting lineman need all the full speed reps they can get.

He pushed somebody! In practice! They fell down!

Have any of us ever seen a practice other than training camp?
