If tgey really want him as an experienced backup. Id make an offer in the four to five million range for one season and tell him to explore whats out there tgen get back to me.

The interesting thing was that they said he left without discussing a contract, so its one of three things..
1. he didn’t pass the physical… which probably would have leaked like it does in cases like this…
2. He was holding out for a bigger role if one is out there… in which case he may not sign until closer to camp, hoping for an injury or team to miss out on a draft target..
3. The team wants him to get a real market value to determine what they are going to offer him.

I’d say that is probably what happened, STEELERS made a low offer and BUD went out to see what his value is. He hasn’t signed anywhere (to my knowledge), yet alone here.

I’d say the door is open and if a physical thing, it will be a “time will tell”.

Well looks like his departure was due to a domestic arrest. Thought at the time it was an odd release, now it makes sense.
