Gunner Olszewski on Board

At this point it's a one for one replacement and if he does that will be great... Heaven forbid someone has a different opinion, I'm not bashing him just don't see a huge upgrade at this point

Well then you at least gotta agree that his name is a huge upgrade. "Gunner Olszewski" as opposed to "Ray Ray"? C'mon man.lol

It's a great name... I hope he kills it for the Steelers. Never heard of the kid so i just compared stats and did not see a major upgrade, that does not mean it won't be. It will be fun to see how all of these new faces produce.

Watched his highlights...
  1. He looked awfully, awfully slow.

  2. Mediocre to good at times finding an open hole to run thru.

  3. Dear GOD, Canada is going to call MORE jet-sweeps!! FFS

  4. Best in the biz return man? how far the the biz has fallen here.

  5. Seems like a ferocious tackler. Maybe we sub him in for Bush on a couple of plays, see if he can take the starting job?

Well his 40 time is pedestrian for a return man at 4.56 but his 10 yard split which is a good indicator of exploiveness is 1.59. Tyreek hill was 1.50. The kid picks his spots good or bad and goes for it. He's by no means Devin Hester but I'm glad they got him.

I was watching some of his highlights because I don’t know much about him. One thing for sure, I agree he’s not that ‘explosive’ type runner. The thing I noticed was he was a strong runner and decisive, once he makes his cut- he runs straight ahead. No dancing or spinning around. That’s something the last several Steeler KRs were not. He knows how to use minimal open space and pick up a few more yards. He might not take them to the other side, but I think this kid will be handy in the field position game.

I'm really trying to understand this guy's all pro selection. I looked at his numbers and none are even close.

Mudda Fucca's...Now we got 2 Gunners on Special Teams

We have to still get a wr to replace ray-ray. So as much as folks hated ray-ray, we need 2 players to replace him since gunner apparently can't catch.

S

Averaged 20 yards per return with a touch
Is that not worthy?

Ray Ray averaged 15 last year with no scores

Not sure what your average returner averages
I love how people get into the weeds of stuff. Over the last two seasons Ray-Ray had about 2500 total return yards. Gunner had about 1600. Now there are different yards. I totally accept that. For example Gunner played for a smart coach that wouldn't let him return a ball kicked into the endzone. But it's still 450 yards a year.
So basically Gunner was forced to be more picky in his returns. Ray Ray pretty much had the green light. When I think of an All-Pro returner I'm not thinking about a 4.5 guy with about 800 total return yards in a year. Like someone said the term All Pro return man must have changed.

I see the decisive cuts, but I also see superior special teams. Much better blocking.

LOL.... Yeah ok, major upgrade. The difference is minuscule. Like i said it is a typical Steeler FA off-season. Nothing spectacular but nothing bad to include this guy... Again really no big deal.
Nothing typical about this particular year's free agency for the Steelers.
This time of year the owners and coaches usually go on vacation.

Can't remember a start to free agency like this year

What is not typical is that the Steelers had way more money to spend what was typical was the type of FA and signing their own.
