Two days after getting torched for six touchdowns by Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, the Ravens released their No. 2 and 3 corners from that game. The team will eventually have Jimmy Smith (foot), but for now, recent signings Danny Gorrer and Tramain Jacobs are expected to compete for the starting job across from Lardarius Webb for Sunday's home game against the Tennessee Titans

^^^ From my NFL.com fantasy football info.. Havent found another link to the story yet.

That's like us cutting cortez and willy gay and bringing in two new guys.... holy cow.

Are any of them better than what we have?

**** I would bring them both in for a workout and a looksee. Maybe one is worth signing............

The media likes to portray the Harbaughs as ultra competitive but I think these guys have psychological issues.

Well, we wouldn't be cutting Gay. He's playing his *** off. Cornerback is a tough position for a marginal player to just come off the street and play at any kind of a competent level. This is likely to end badly :D If I'm Tennessee, I'm throwing until they prove they can stop it. Gorrer is a former Rat, so at least he knows their schemes.

Not sure i agree with yaz on this. I know it can't hurt, no commitment and all. There is nothing but plus side to doing this. I'm a little worried what it would send to the current DBs. We are playing better than the beginning of the year. TRUE, our offense is letting us play with a lead thus allowing the defense to play riskier. But our D is getting better and better. Does these two waived players have the ability to up root someone? Guess the coaches will look at the tape on them and determine if so. Confidence and chemistry are fine lines, hard to know if and when it should be crossed, this late in the season.

The truth is, we are getting moRe pressure on opposing QB's, helping out our Dee backs.

That was a sarcastic post, I was tempted to get out the template they were not used properly etc. In reality Cortez is likely to be better than what the other team has once they can get his technique adjusted to todays nfl game. He was very promising when they signed him and his style would have fit well with what the Steelers wanted. Willie Gay has become a good corner by being patient and developing him, this kid has Lake as a coach a defensive back who was able to play safety and corner. I might add that he was able to play corner well enough to replace one of the best corners the game has ever seen when that corner was rehabbing an injury. I believe Lake well get this kid ready to play at a high level eventually.

GREAT post Wing, I'm glad others here see the potential in Cortez. He is a promising player, as you said, and I believe he will come around. Lake, was not only a great safety, but also a very UNSELFISH team player. His moving to corner, very well gave up a Pro Bowl selection of him. That unselfishness has to be mirrored into his coaching abilities, thus translating to the team. Cortez will be back, just needs a little work.

If I were Harbaugh I would have benched the left guard. The inside stunt was burning him all damn game long.

Yep. The 3-4 looks a lot better when the OLBs are being disruptive and making plays, as Harrison and Worilds have the past few weeks.

The DBs are going to continue to need all the help they can get. They're not that good,

Well it sure couldn't be the coaching of hairball could it. Maybe he should give himself a fine for being a clueless whinny useless ****. Sorry I really do not like Hairball but really like the title of the thread. Could the game have been different if they played better defense up front instead of just going for cheap shots hoping to take out key players in the game. Maybe the bounty did not work this time. I suspect that Ben was hurt and that it seemed to affect his throws in the first game from the upshaw hit. I could be wrong but it seemed to me he was not very good for a bit after that.

Well yeah because there are better guys on the waiver wire and practice squads than your #2 and #3 CB's. Who's doing their drafting? Colbert?

let the melt down continue

OUCH! With #1 out for the season and #2 and #3 cut... Hairball better pull on a jersey.

.

tough break, they shouldn't have fired those other two without a security blanket. After all almost no one can conver Antonio Brown and when Ben is on fire the passes are perfectly placed

Too bad we don't play them again this year. Probably.
