Harris.

To the consumer, the cost is the same.

The higher corporate tax is a long term cost component that reduces the net cash to the American corporations.

The tariff causes the consumer to favor the US source for the product over the foreign good.

It's not as simple as that because of foreign tit for tat responses to tariffs, but the higher taxes hurt the US company much more.
Agree but not all tariffs are the same. You use a low tariff to make revenue for the government because people aren't really going to buy less.
Add ten cents to every bottle of French wine and that will make money for the government.
You use a high tariff to restrict imports by making the cost less affordable and the cost for the domestic product relatively more affordable.
Add $20 to every bottle of French wine and people will buy a lot less of it and more domestic wine.

That was my point. High tariffs benefit the local producer. High taxes harm the local producer.

Low tariffs not relevant to this discussion because it's just a guvmint skim.

The difference between a tax and a tariff is that you don’t have to buy things with a tariff on them, a tax you pay no matter what.

Reduce our taxes 80 percent and raise tariffs.

U.S. — After revelations that Tim Walz had a secret romantic relationship with the daughter of a Chinese Communist Party (CCP) official, Walz has assured voters that he never would have had an affair with her if he'd realized she was a woman.

"I'm a bit of a knucklehead, what can I say?" Tim Walz said as he passionately waved his arms around. "I would never have done it if I knew Wang was a woman - trust me."

The relationship reportedly lasted four years, yet Walz has remained adamant that he had no idea that she wasn't a dude. "I'm as embarrassed as anyone," said Walz. "If I had known from the beginning that she was a woman, I would have walked away. I would never, ever have been involved in such a sordid affair, especially with a family member of a high-ranking communist official, if I knew she was a girl. Never."

The Trump campaign considered making a statement on the matter, but figured it was best to just let Kamala and Tim talk.

Vice President Kamala Harris addressed the scandal by reframing it as a good thing, explaining that this just proves Tim Walz is a "normal guy from the Midwest" who is "super-duper straight." Unfortunately, her speech was cut short when Tim Walz joined her on stage with a playful prance.

At publishing time, Tim Walz had been hit with another "October Surprise" when he was informed he had a wife.

the examples discussed above were about tax vs tariff on same product. The consumer who buys it pays the same price, but the tariff is applied to the foreign good while the tax is on both local and foreign goods. Both are only paid upon purchase, so a consumer can choose not to buy.
