Has anyone else but me ever considered this?

Life is all about the distractions. Beer, friends and wings don't hurt either.

I love Steeler football because it is one of the things that help my dad and I bond. Winning or losing, we are watching the games together, and I cherish that time. We had a stupid argument (non-football related) about ten years back, and I drove up to my former hangout in Hoboken, NJ, to watch a playoff game with a buddy of mine who is a Jets fan. Even though the Steelers won an exciting game, it was still hollow for me because I missed watching it with the old man. Haven't missed but one or two games since, and only because I was out of town.

It's an escape from reality, a ritual learned in childhood, and a chance to bring a temporary joy to life and support my hometown/roots at the same time

Because we live vicariously through them. The hitting, the violence, the skill, the strategy, the drama.....its all an escape to a fantasy world of **** we wish we could do but can't. So by viewing ourselves as part of the team, our lives suck a little less, and its a positive distraction from day-to-day worries.

Drugs and alcohol work too, but they're not positive.

So in essences, we are all just a piece of ****, looking for a place to hang? LOL

Salute the nation
