Hey Matt Canada,. "Is this it?"

Gilbride and Ray Sherman were still worse. And don’t forget that Sherman was hired as an “offensive consultant” under Fitchner.

I'd forgotten that, **** really does plop together. How ******* bad do you have to be to actually call up a "badder" offensive mind for advice ?

At least Randy didn't live in his fears while making the call, he created a popcorn like atmosphere and ran the direction of a bomerang in windy conditions.

Milk was also drank at the time of the relapse of fortitude between the two men.

ANY questions on my answers of limbo

Perhaps the quarterback shouldn't have thrown the checkdown on 3rd/4th and long.

Fundamentals People!

3rd and 4 or less and we heave it downfield 30-40 yards.
makes no goddamned sense.

especially when you're playing the worst run defense in the league.
This^^^^^^ times infinity. Can't stand the deep shots on 3rd and short.

we do not speak that name here.
I kinda want him to come back.

Oh, Canada's problem is the MFer is enamored with dogshit. He wants to throw a potential statue-of-liberty play in 22, 10, 12 or 13 personnel as well as in 5-wide *******.

Canada is in over his head because he's coaching like a child thinks. In order to be better on offense, the Steelers now need their offensive coordinator to take one giant leap forward in the mental game of coaching. The players have reached their peak in terms of ability. None of the players are suddenly gonna become significantly better at executing these same plays in the next 8 weeks - they've shown everything they can do, as well as they can do it.

Canada has not given that one thought. That's the reason why the Steelers offense sucks.

As soon as Canada can start working the offense around the player's strengths and NOT their weaknesses - the sooner the Steelers will put up alot more points.

That's been the problem with several of our OC's. They seem to want to adapt the players to THEIR system instead of adjusting the system to the talent on hand.
The only OC in recent memory who worked with what he had and took what the other team gave you was Todd Haley.

Totally agree Ron and some can say what they want about Todd but he was the best OC in quite some time. I credit him for extending BEN's career and in doing so also extended Coach Tomlin's career.

Yep. And it's so heart-breaking because every once in a while a player will flash a brilliant play - and then we go back to sucking and disappointment on the scoreboard.

Isn't Canada in the booth? Shouldn't he be able to SEE things better and know what to do/not do?

Yep but He / they institute these plays in TC and install their philosophy throught out camps / OTAs / ect..

His Booth action is to help him determine the reactive play but it's still the philosophy of the offense and that seems to be 2-5 yard throws and no comitted run game.

A good example in the lions game of ****** coaching second possession of the game we had 2nd and 2 and we called some bizarre double handoff that ray ray dropped lost 2 yards then 3rd and 4… they pass 20 yards down field.. we punt. no desperation to get first downs to get touchdowns… this team acts like their head coach knowing they will never be fired. It was poor football, poor play calling, poor execution, just Horrible… that’s how you get tied at home by worse team in football, you coach and play like ****!

ok bad play calls,, and a request fo have fichtner back.

But is this it.? So we arent going to see passes in the middle of the field ,, etc.. Canadas offensive package has been implemented?

Where does Randy Fitchner come into play..................... or is he exempt due to his kindered friendship history and doesn't count due to him just helping a friend out in time of need.?

I think any time your name sounds like “sphincter” you get an automatic pass

The obvious problem with Canada’s play selection and calling is Ben. It’s a lot of the things that Ben likes to do. When Rudolph was going under center and handing off to Harris, it was actually working. Some of the misdirections/jet sweeps/fakes..etc work as long as they’re executed and there’s a threat of the run. I’m not a fan of putting a big package out there and lining up in shotgun. It’s stupid. If Rudy starts, I’m very interested to see how the game flows with a quarterback who’s willing to get under center and is a little quicker on the roll outs.

Me to. The jumbo shotgun has always been a proper mystery. Try to utalize these guys strengths. EVERYTHING will get better as the OL gets better whether by game time play or additional draft / FA capital.

Rudy was in shotgun as much as Ben is.

Who the **** requested Fitchner's return?

Worse OC in the Tomlin reign.

Shotgun should be used for obvious passing situations only. Late in the game and you need to score or 3rd down passing. Other than that it kills the running game and basically sets the OL on its heels instead of being aggressive.

TOTALLY agree and a strong reason our run game is suffering.

aside from the one run play where okorafor did that kick out block on the TD. Id say this is it. Maybe regressed.

You guys are really confusing play calling with execution and Ben's option reads.

I loved the play design on 4th and goal that shot Najee from the backfield to right for a WR screen, then throwback underneath for a TE screen, but our guards didn't block and Pat was tackled short. Still the play design was great.

Also on Pat's TD, which I tough was a screen, was actually the excellent efforts of Chukes and Green getting down field in front of the play to block for the TD.

Though I do hold them responsible for going empty set on 1st/2nd down on the goal line. That was a Fichtner/Haley thing, and you get ZERO threat to run or have any option for play action, which always looks like a trick play when run against our D...
