Heyward back at OTAs

Cam was shooting for a big deal with a contract bonus, ain't gonna get it. He overestimated the infatuation of the fans and his Walter Payton award. Some Steeler fans are out there, out-of-touch with reality and too much into "fandom," or being zealots. But he's overshot just how many are. Steeler fan is like "Cool, you won the Walter Payton award, good job. Now, as far as a 35-year-old DT expecting a big, new contract, well, errrr, not so much there big guy. That's not how a well-run team operates." FB is replete with fans saying a big "no way" to a big, new deal.
wow your insight into a guy you don't even really know is amazing

or just total bullshit

All I know is McCaffery's new contract is a hell of a lot more team friendly then Heyward's and takes him through the rest of his usable career. If I'm choosing between those two players not much of a decision.

Voluntary Organized Team Activities - The old man isn't "holding out", the media is drumming up drama because it's a contract year for Cam. That's it.

The Steelers will give him an extension and hopefully rotate him out more to keep him on the field over the course of 18 games.
Yeah. Give the 35 year-old defensive lineman an extension on top of the 16 million he's due this year, and then rotate him out more often. Pay him more for less snaps. Sounds perfect.

So just bitching about nonsense to hear yourself ***** or is this your happy?

Careful, you’re trending on his “ignored” ground here.

You may jeopardize your wisdom for him should he put you on that list………..

Salute the nation

Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating for this scenario at all. But the extension or restructuring is the type of loyal nonsense the Steelers have done in the past.

If they do this, then I am advocating that at his age, he needs to be spared in the snap count much as they did with Jerome and others. Otherwise, they run the risk of him getting injured and being off the field for longer periods of time.

Moot point isn't it? McC wasn't a free agent we missed on signing because we had Cam in albatross contract that makes the team cash strapped against the cap

At least there was some good news on this front: Cam sounded like the team is not rushing to give him a new deal. "There's been discussion but I doubt a new deal is on it's way very soon." Sounds like the team has not lost its mind. Oh, I'm sure if left up to Tomlin a new deal would be coming forthwith. But with the power shifting more to Kahn, we are seeing more sanity here.

Difference with Bettis was he cut his salary.
