TJ is being paid now. They'll restructure his contract so that he gets even more right now and use that money to resign Highsmith.
I've seen folks saying they should not resign Highsmith and should replace him with Herbig after the season. Herbig hasn't even taken a real practice snap in the NFL. What if he sucks? Then you've allowed Highsmith to hit FA, and your options are paying him a **** ton of money to stay or paying him a **** ton of money under the franchise tag.

Highsmith needs to be tied up NOW. Pay him a fair price but get the deal done. 4yrs with a 5th option, to near match TJ’s time remaining.

Some flock to the new talent that hasn’t even played an NFL down….. Miraculasly they are the best on the team.

I’ve seen / heard many say how good this player is or that one…… yet never a down Played yet.

Things haven’t changed much, the 2nd or 3 RD string QB was always the best as he hasn’t taken a snap or played yet for the average fan to be pissed at him.

I say go after the proven commodity if possible.
