Im gonna be honest

I don’t blame Justin one bit for signing with the Jets. Even though the Jets is where QBs seem to go and die it might be changing now with a new, exciting, and innovative head coach. He will have plenty of weapons and actually be allowed to play the position unlike here where a QB is in shackles.
The Jets gave him 30 million guaranteed money and the starting job. It’s his to lose. That’s basically all he wanted to hear from the Steelers.
Now we’re being held hostage by a 42 year old washed up QB and the other option being the 37 year old cooked Russ Wilson.
What a colossal ******* mess!

It makes sense to a degree. They have 2 very volatile wrs now, if they keep Pickens. They are gonna want the ball. Rodgers is, by far, the best thrower of the football available to them. Fields is still a bit of an unknown with that.

It makes no sense if you are trying to build up a young team to be in the hunt for championships in the future. I don't think that is their main concern right now.
To me I'd say the chances of them winning a SB with Rodgers are less the 1%. You are simply building a bullshit facade. He's played with far more talented teams and crapped out. So if you are not playing for a SB you need to build. And if you can't build on Fields go cheap with Mason Rudolph.

You read the rest of the post?
Yup...Disagreed with it only because we need someone who can sling it now....Fields is not that guy though I supported him but facts are facts...He is not a great thrower of the football ( I watched him 6 games & his touch on passes is very suspect)...I don't want Russ (it was bad but we were winning ugly so no one noticed)...How about a cagey 4 time MVP to get your receivers the rock?

Rodgers has something to prove...We can benefit from that...

All brought to you from Art II, Clown-lin and Kahn. Beautiful to behold, isn't it?

You really think Aaron Rodgers is the answer? 42year old Aaron Rodgers. The same guy that just imploded with the Jets. This guy with zero mobility behind an OL that had trouble with pass protection last season. They would have been better benefited by signing Justin to a two year contract with a lot less money and used that savings to build around him. He’s young, mobile, athletic and would have been in his second season with the same OC. Something he’s never enjoyed before and Arthur Smith wanted to work with Justin.
I remember you being the same guy that was pushing for Russ Wilson last preseason as well.

But Clown-lin is calling the shots, keep that in mind. Run 1st, run 2nd, pass 3rd, punt. Over and over again.

We would have been better off...but that ship has sailed. So where do we go from here? I was against the Rodgers deal from the start, the more I look at the current crop, and current situation we are in...The more I'm on board with it.

Rodgers is Rodgers, he still has more talent throwing the ball than any other available QB. And if you're comparing him to Wilson, he's better at pocket mobility and recognizing pressure than Wilson, even if Wilson has the SLIGHTEST edge in mobility, albeit not much. But then you have to look at what could be, if it implodes, which most are expecting...there is literally no way for Tomlin to come out smelling like a rose after this one. It could be the only way to fast track what we as Steelers fans have been asking for, for at least the last 3-5 years (depending on when you jumped on the fire Tomlin wagon).

On the other side of it, Rodgers is a year removed from the Achilles injury, has two monster targets on the outside and what could be a 3 headed monster in the slot (Muth, Austin, Wilson, Washington) I like it better than running it back with Russ. Or trying to lure Rudolph the rednosed 3rd stringer back. And the other options aren't very inspiring either and don't have that boom or bust status to really drive home the Tomlin issue. It would also give you someone for a draft pick to learn behind, whether it's Dart, or Shough, or Ewers, or whoever.

I've seen enough of Russ, didn't like the signing last year, really don't like it this year.

Never compared him to Wilson. Don’t like either one of them.
Not to even mention the baggage that comes with this nut case Rodgers as well. He’s all about himself and don’t think he would be a positive influence in that locker room.
At this point as much as I don’t like him I’d re-sign Wilson as my QB and draft my guy in the 26 draft.

Was a general "you", and the baggage is clearly addressed in my post as part of a positive spin for the future...

Hate to bust your bubble, but there is a pretty good chance DK was brought in and paid to replace George, not to be paired with him.

I almost expect George to be traded before or during the draft.
Yes, I don’t think you can pay two WR what Pickens will want.

Pickens will be a major problem if they try to make him play out his last year of the rookie deal. Not to mention how Pickens targets will go down and how he’ll respond to that

Well, looking at it from that perspective it could jettison Tomlin’s exit out of town sooner. You know this will be a Tomlin decision as he’s always fantasized having Rodgers as his QB.
Listening to Tomlin’s fanboys they always act like he’s cursed with this mediocre roster and gets the most from his players. They never mention he’s the chief architect of said roster.
He wanted Rudolph, Trubisky, Pickett was HIS guy, Justin, and Russ. Now it’s Rodgers!

Getting to this point isn’t just about who and how much, it’s about ONLY ones left and name their price.

Not having QB plans for quite some time now, falls souled on our control based HC. Last year you bring in two QBs on 1 yr deals, hardly get evaluation on the more likely candidate. (Wilson burned FO bridges while here and will NOT be back). Allowing the Justin Fields to leave, the way more up-side QB and for cheap.

We are on a rudderless ship and have sailed into this port of unbelievable ****-show. The next ****-show is signing Roger’s and forcing him to change his play to match Coach Tomlin’s view of offense. Old Dog to learn the new trick…….. no sense made here (DK Daily Shot has a good segment on this mornings release. Talks about how AR will have his contributions on how and what on play-calling………… right).

The STEELERS are the laughing stock of the NFL bar none. There is NO long term plan for QB for years now (even before BEN retired). I read some poster saying other teams are in this kind of mess as well, I don’t think so. I’d like to see that list of teams fighting for Aaron Roger’s to save their season. Add in the 42yrs old.

Guys like TJ Watt are very professional, but when things like this happen over and over…………. The money is what only keeps them here. That’s a big reason and drive to get maximum $$$coin$$$ because they know what they are playing with.

You and I both know the extent of this coaching regime / coaching / FO staff / owner……….. currently Laughing stock of the NFL.

Rooney II owns the QB debacle at the end of the day

No one knows who has final say on the QB direction the past few years. I’d like to believe Khan isn’t this dumb and is being handcuffed by Tomlins influence-I totally believe Tomlin is this dumb and Rooney is complacent enough to let Tomlin botch this

Mike Tomlin is 10 wins behind Chuck Noll on the all time wins list (regular season), 18 if you count playoff wins. I think it’s Rooney’s goal to get him to #1 and then Art steps down.

I wrote that exact concept two years ago.

they have to convince Dookie, not you.

that is unfortunate for Steeler fans because the Steelers FO has demonstrated a lack of aptitude for QBs and strategy for the past decade.

Dang straight, it’s like They are in “one player” mode to get to the Super Bowl…………

Seems like long term planning isn’t here. I know a team can “turn things” around fast, but you have to be making better move than what we’ve been seeing.

Maybe we will all get a pleasant surprise and things will come together better than expected.

Well the relationship of Rogers wanting to win something real looks very promising as he tries to wring out the last dollar between Pittsburgh and the Giants where he'd be lucky to win 5 games. I'd just pay Rudolph rock bottom, pick up another guy and if Dart falls (doubtful) go with that.

We aren't going to win much anyway. Bring in the cheapest option. At least Rooney will be happy.

We had many players leave. Maybe these guys really don't want to play under Tomlin like the media keeps telling us.

We were winning ugly with Fields too, just at a higher win percentage

Easily has a better arm than moon ball OldeRuss who has one trick, Chuck an under thrown moon ball
