Initial Thoughts on colts Game

Seriously.

Many people are talking like it was a tight game throughout.

The Steelers led 17-7 at halftime and 27-10 with around five minutes left in the fourth quarter.

Could the Steelers have won by more? Yeah, but the Colts were 7-1 for a reason.
There it is. Common sense. Logically thinking.

You know that ain't 'llowed round these parts!!!

I’m not buying in! I’ve seen this script play out so many times in the past.
Lose two or three in a row and come out of nowhere to win a game no one gave them a chance to win.
Turnovers are great but you simply cannot rely on them consistently week after week.
You saw what happened against the Bengals and Packers.
You must have good, sound schematics and your players must stay in their gaps and execute. Coaches have to put their players in the best positions to win.
If the Steelers can continue with that formula then yes they have a chance.
If they go back to playing undisciplined then its back to games like the Bengals and Packers.
Contesting this with these facts:

1. Bert is not a fluke QB at 40+ and his use of Chase and Higgins will only get better with time. Our DBs underestimated these gents and paid the price.

2. Yes, Love played like a HS QB yesterday; but 20 completions in a row (against a secondary that was playing slow and confused) generally results in a win.

There are no super powerhouse teams in the AFC and all of them have some sort of kryptonite - that goes for the NFC too. Treading water isn't the desired result to get to the playoffs but if the Steelers can maintain the 2 game lead - I believe they win the AFCN.

Hopefully, Mr. Khan is working 22 hour days to get that true #2 WR because DK played like a #3, yesterday; but hindsight has me thinking that he wasn't the focal point in the game plan - Mt. Washington was...

awesome start...missing a wide open TE

third down still sucks...and when they do get a stop..4th down is worse....****

Colts try to gift us a score and we refuse to take it

Who the hell is this guy #90 with the strip sack and fumble recovery???

finally a score and by Warren imagine that

back to back takeaways by the defense - who the **** are these guys???

offense still lacks balls you have the lead....but lots of time...go for the ******* kill

defense played well...mostly....but why the **** can they not make a ******* stop on 4th down...hell before that field goal I thought Indy should go for it there on 4th and 9

holding taylor to 55 yards - ******* miracle

Austin actually had a good game....DK was no where to be found

no running game today...passing game was so so...too many behind the LOS passes...stretch the ******* field

Wilson is a ******* idiot

6 turnovers and we only win by 7...great win, but damn it should not have been close

they have got to get the running game going and stop all the bullshit behind the LOS passing....

Washington had some great catches and Mutthhh with the big TD but DK disappeared....how can you not get him something????

gotta stop playing it so ******* safe and step on the other teams throat when you have the opportunity

coaching is still questionable

Love the big win though....

Great win but it was the same old Steelers, outside the turnover margin and pass rush.
Still can't run or stop the pass
WR and TE are grossly overpaid, Not looking for gaudy stats just catch the ball and don't fumble. Missing George yet?
Could be the worst secondary in the league.

We needed the win bad but the Colts have 2 wins against teams with winning records. Gotta have some perspective.

Playing the Titans 2x, Dolphins, Raiders and Cardinals.
They have 2 Wins against winning teams, one of them by 1 point.
Frauds with a stud RB

What game did you watch? We held Their all world RB to 45 yards rushing. Much of their passing yards came late in trying to comeback. Come on man.

They still got badly outgained despite a 6-1 TO advantage….the offense is stuck in mud. They need to find ways to win when they don’t get 5+ TOs or play terrible QBs.

Did I say anything about not being able to stop the run??
The game Daniel Jones put up 340 yards passing, lighting up the secondary with second rate receivers.
If it wasn't for the turnovers he would have put up 400+ and we all know it.

Come on man, what were you watching? Porter was getting clowned all day besides the int. Penalty machine.

Through the first 7 games this defense was on pace to allow the 8th most receiving yards in LEAGUE history.
But don't let statistics spoil you're delusion

his point was 140 of the passing yards came late in the 4th quarter when the Steelers went soft on D allowing yards but running clock...

I was wondering why they would put rookie Caleb Johnson in the game late when you need to run out the clock. It's like it was his turn or something. Put your best players on the field in the most critical situations
Warren isn’t above fumbling.

Do you write these up as the game unfolds?

They have had hoal line D issues for several years now... using an indersized NT is a problem in short yardage sets. The colts were going for it on their side of the field.

What shouldnt be lost last night is that the D still gave up 370 yards and the colts did get the late game pushback teams too often do vs the Austin/ Tomlin D.

All the turnovers masked problems that are still there...
JJ Watt used the telestrater to circle the spot lacking a Steeler DL where Jones slid easily into EZ for the first td. Why wasn't Harmon there? Boggles the mind.

One perspective is that we aren’t as shltty as the bad teams the Colts beat.

And? Fans can try to ignore the yardage or justify it any way you want. Doesn't change the 342 yards
If we weren't on pace to give up the eight most passing yards in history his point would be worth considering.

Sorry, I read can't run or stop the pass wrong. My brain read stop the run or pass. And I though Porter played well aside from the penalties which one was a total joke. Best coverage guy we have.

The Steelers were in dime and Esezi Otomewo was the only defensive lineman on the the field. Who? I get giving Heyward a break, but get Harmon or Benton in there if you are rolling with 1 DL.

I know exactly which play you're talking about. I saw Harmon and Black running off the field because the Colts brought in extra receivers. Have the DBs and LBs try to cover and keep the big guys on the field. I feel good if they had Harmon, Heyward, and Black clogging the middle Jones does not score.
