Initial Thoughts on Packer

Totally different offense. Loved it. Didn't matter who the QB was. All executed well. Systems matter.

Defense looked a little different as well in a good way. Asante Samuel. Nice.
Who was the guy that celebrated his 2 sacks like he just won't the super bowl?
I think they kept 77 in so long to drum up some interest in a trade. Kinda hope not. You an never have to many tackles.
Baugh

A HC with an offensive play sheet in his hands calling NFL type plays and NOT AFRAID to use the middle of the field. I love it!
I know Drew was facing third string guys and ones that won’t be on a roster, but he still had to execute and make the throws. The ball seems to explode out of his huge hands. This kid can make any throw and he’s big and mobile. I think the worst thing that happened to him was James Franklin at Penn State. Have to wonder if he would have been in a pro style offense under a more offensive minded coach how much better he would have played.
He’s got all the tools just needs coaching and weapons and with McCarthy and Arth he’s got the coaches and he has the weapons now. Maybe we got a steal in this draft.
I liked what I saw from Tonyan, Germie Bernard, and Wetjen. Nichole looked pretty good too.
Penalties were far too many but first pre season game so that’s part of it.
ST’s not so good but I think that gets worked out as well.
Tackling looked better on defense and Asante Samuel looked really good.
That guy Baugh looked good on DL but he’s got a tough road to haul.
All in all I thought it was an encouraging first preseason game but have to remind myself, it’s only preseason.

Just imagine one day we all thank the Lord that Franklin sucked so bad at Penn State

Hell Yeah...Football is back

it is preseason so not getting too excited but there were some positives

I hear this loud and clear, I heard some say cut this guy or that guy. It’s possible they could get cut but not until as much evaluation is given as possible.

way too many penalties, especially in the 1st half

Like you said, way too early in pre-season to condemn. They need to work and clean those up. Also keep in mind that a lot of those STers probably won’t be on the final roster

The defense tackled well and coverage was prety good.

To me they look like what MM said they were going to work on, foot work being correct / body positioning being correct. I think it is working or showing the right direction.

rudy was rudy, he did have a really good play but the reciever was knocked out of bounds but he broke a tackle and got the ball off. if he wasn't such a statue he could have walked in for a TD though.

Howard was ok, he made some decent passes and didn't force throws, he did have a couple of throws that would have been trouble against 1st team defenses

Allaar thre well. he was accurate on the slants and gave his guys the chance to get YAC and they did..granted most of the defenders he faced won't be in the league

All three made good arguement in thie favor. The young guns have a ways to go but looked very positive to this point. It is amazing what coaching can do.!!!

have to cut down on the penalties

Let Howard and Allar play more, rudy is not that guy so may as well let him get o with his life's work

Roberts joined the team today so Super Bowl bound *******

Fully agree on the playing time, but remember they have to give the QB2 as much perpetuation as possible. MM has probably made Rudy his choice unless someone radically steps up in practice and next couple games. There is time, but the candidate must make it happen.

Thanks for your post Coolie, appreciate yaz.!

Keep in mind that some of these players know they will not make the roster and are still playing as hard as possible to make the PS,

These practice squad players aren’t just randomly picked, they are taken on ability / potential developement / deep back-up role / ect. Ect.

Good luck to them.!!!
