Initial Thoughts on rats Game

It is a dumb rule but a rule. It was the right call.

I always thought two feet down with possession should be enough…

I agree with this. Santonio didn’t make a “football move” to win SB43 🤷🏻‍♂️
It's different if you're going out of bounds, possession and 2 feet down is all you need, in the middle of the field/endzone it's different which is a dumb rule.

It's always great to beat the Rats, especially in front of their douche fans, but I'm not a Browns fan where it makes my season beating a division rival, we still gave up 220 yards rushing and Lamar isn't remotely 100%, Ravens got Jesse Jamesed, and luckily Rodgers knee hit the ground a .25 seconds before losing the ball on that pass that was knocked up in the air. We still aren't close to being a contender, so while the win is great, Im not overly excited because like I said, I'm not a Browns fans so I want this to be a contender, and WTF is Tomlin blowing kisses for, do something in the post season, don't act like a douche because fans are chanting for your a55 to be fired.

Mike really isn’t a check himself type coach. If he was he would have tried to fix his obvious deficiencies. More of a look at me I am still winning type even when 99.99999999 of the fan base knows a playoff win is the ceiling but a long shot.

His answers scream of my approach got us another non losing season. He will not fix a broken scheme, not surround himself with X and O up and comers. Just a Groundhog Day approach with pompous tendencies.

My happiest day as a Steelers fan will be when he steps down.

I couldn't have said it better myself, it sucks when a win a Baltimore doesn't even get anyone that excited anymore.

I guess that’s what I was implying. Yes dumb because end zone is endzone. 2025 and coaches are openly saying they don’t know what a catch is. Lefleur (sp?) even said so in presser last night after Bears game.

The Steelers got over, the Ravens were screwed on the Rodgers reception/fumble (he didn’t survive the ground) and the Likely TD (extending the ball to keep it away from a defender is a “football move”).

The league wants Tomlin in the playoffs.

They need to just simplify it, 2 feet down (or a knee/elbow,etc) and possession that's a catch, anywere on the field, get rid of that whole surviving the ground crap, or football move.

What bothers me the most about this board is the lack of acknowledgment when a clever statement is made and is ignored in such a rude manner; it's simply criminal! I for one appreciate the reference and would love to see more of this from you in the future.
LOL. At least someone got it.

The sideline is the same. You need 2 feet down, but you still have to maintain possession, falling to the ground, etc. It's a crappy rule, but it is the rule. The Ratbirds play was definitely incomplete. He did not make a football move after getting 2 feet down. The replay shows the ball coming out before his 3rd foot came down. They can whine all they want, but the officials made the correct call.

Initial Thought:
How long will it be until Tomlin signs his next extension?

Other Thoughts:
1) The rules for what is or isn't a catch are absurd. Likely caught the ball with his hands (like you're supposed to) and deliberately kept the ball extended and held away from Porter while taking 2 full steps. Most of the time you want to bring the ball back in toward your body to try and secure it, but in this case, it made sense to attempt to shield it from the defender, which he did.
2) Is there a soul among us who, had that been ruled a TD, felt confident that the Steelers would come back in the last three minutes of this game after amassing zero yards in the prior 16+ minutes?
3) Not only did Porter's illegal contact penalty on 3rd-and-8 right after the two-minute warning hand the Ravens three extra points, it also allowed Baltimore to run out the clock at the end of the first half and prevent the Steelers from putting up any potential points. I'd like his apologists to explain to me why, precisely, they believe that Porter is having such an excellent season, because I don't see it.
4) You can safely assume that the Ravens beat the Steelers in week 18. They usually split, and this season will probably be no different.
5) If the Steelers do somehow manage to win the division, in all likelihood they will draw the Bills, and be embarrassed in the first round once again. But first we'll hear all about how Tomlin miraculously rallied his team to finish with another non-losing season and made the playoffs.
Joey's ranking is 24th out of 64 starting CB's he has very good numbers in completion percentage against. His tackling while not perfect has improved dramatically. You are letting emotion get in the way of common sense. Many top DBs play just like Porter. They also tend to get more penalties for their style, but it works more than it fails. You just have an emotional reaction that is far stronger when he gets a penalty than when he simply does his job as many times it isn't even on camera on the national broadcast. His rep is hurting him more than his actual play. He is our best man cover CB.

Per the PFT show this a.m., it’s two steps plus a move common to the game (turn upfield, 3rd step, tuck ball, protect/extend ball, etc.). He was already in the EZ, so he couldn’t turn upfield, extending the ball should have been considered the move. Said replay officials were only looking for the 3rd step.

WEll he hadn't taken a third step and didn't complete the act of extending the ball as it was knocked out of his hands. Therefore, still incomplete.

The fact that there is so much debate about what is or is not a catch just shows what a piss poor product the NFL is anymore. Fans can't celebrate big moments; they have to wait with bated breath for a confirmation to be announced.

I called it "not a catch" right away - see game day thread.

The difference between a running TD and receiving TD is very different.

Running - ball only has to break the plane
Receiving - receiver must survive the catch. In yesterday's case - the 3rd foot never touched before the ball was dislodged...
I don't think it was a catch but mot many of us would have saw it that way the other way around. Especially with the Rodgers "catch"

You don't have to survive the ground on that play. He was not catching a pass.

sad to say,, i didnt get it. I still dont at this moment. Treasure island? idk.

The Dolphins game doesn't even matter anymore. Beat the Browns and the Ravens and the Steelers have the division.
This statement is incorrect. The Steelers can actually lose to the Ravens in Week 18, but if they've beaten Miami and Cleveland, they can still win the division at 9-8. The Ravens have two tough games left with New England and at Green Bay.
