Interesting that they tweaked Holcomb’s contract.

I read awhile ago it was unlikely he'd be ready for the early part of the season. This is additional evidence he'll be out for awhile. I do hope he can fully recover because he played pretty well for us once he settled in and would be terrific depth for the stretch run of the year.

I do wonder if they are thinking of adding a player or two. As they seem to be active with their cap tweaking…

For some reason I thought week 5 or 6.

They are not getting rid of him, they would have done that by now (Injury settlement).

He will be great depth / starter should need be.

With the rules on how cap space can roll forward now, its hard to say whether this is for an impending move or just to make his contract more palatable over two years.

If nothing else they have cap space if they need it... and eventually NFL gms will learn what NHL gms learned long ago... cap space is a valuable asset that can get you players with little or no draft compensation when teams run into cap space issues.. especially at the deadline

Remember, this whole "trade happy" nfl is a relatively new thing... it wasnt that long ago that trades were rare and the deadline was week 3....

Salary cutting by the team......I wonder if Cam is next?🙄

I think Cam has successfully parleyed his salary into a no cut situation.

Right or wrong, he played it like an expert……………. Man of the Year

Sutton or Heyward?

Heyward, screamed big at the beginning, leaked he might play else where, then settled in for the long haul.

I would only think they restructure his contract for a 2yr stint, or actually do nothing at all.

There was a hellA lot more to gain from restructuring Heyward, then restructuring Holcomb. That tells the story.

Heyward only has one year left on his deal, they can't restructure his contract, only extend it.

Or cut him.

So the Steelers can't approach Cam and ask him to take a pay reduction for the up coming season?

They can and would just have to re-write the contract, but more likely than not, it would be an extension of an additional year.
