I had no problem downloading it, but I try to use my same username and password, and it doesn't accept it.

You have to register a new account for the news site.

Question: Got the app. Works fine. Hit the drop down, go to Forums...and it bounces me to Safari on my iPhone.

Is there no way to browse and post in the forums "inside the app"?

No, the forum is a completely different thing from the news app. It's a stand alone thing on it's own server.
