No appeasement here

An Iowa lawmaker is urging anyone who's unhappy with the president-elect to "suck it up."

Representative Bobby Kaufmann is proposing what he calls the "suck it up, buttercup" bill.

He says protests on Interstate 80 last week sparked the idea. The bill would clarify state laws about highway protests.

It would also fine schools that use tax dollars to support what he calls "cry rooms" for students upset about the outcome of an election.

“You've got a right to be a brat,” said Representative Kaufmann. “You've got a right to protest, that's constitutionally protected. But you do not have a right to throw a temper tantrum on Interstate 80 and put my constituent’s lives in danger.”

Representative Kaufmann says he thinks his bill could inspire a national movement.

For real?

I like it. The penalty for violating the law should be like that thing in Singapore - caning. Like my dad always said, "You want something to cry about? I'll give you something to cry about!!"

Go for it!!!! KU- which my tax dollars go to pay for- has THERAPY DOGS set aside for students who can't deal with the loss.

LOL...Brings back memories ST. This latest immigrant push for blanket amnesty and tearing down the Statue of Liberty galls me.

This was written by Rosemary LaBonte to the editors of a California newspaper in response to an article written by Ernie Lujan who suggests we should tear down the Statue of Liberty because the immigrants of today aren’t being treated the same as those who passed through Ellis Island and other ports of entry.

Maybe we should turn to our history books and point out to people like Mr. Lujan why today's American is not willing to accept this new kind of immigrant any longer. Back in 1900 when there was a rush from all areas of Europe to come to the United States, people had to get off a ship and stand in a long line in New York and be documented.

Some would even get down on their hands and knees and kiss the ground. They made a pledge to uphold the laws and support their new country in good and bad times. They made learning English a primary rule in their new American households and some even changed their names to blend in with their new home.

They had waved goodbye to their birth place to give their children a new life and did everything in their power to help their children assimilate into one culture. Nothing was handed to them. No free lunches, no welfare, no labor laws to protect them. All they had were the skills and craftsmanship they had brought with them to trade for a future of prosperity.

Most of their children came of age when World War II broke out. My father fought along side men whose parents had come straight over from Germany, Italy, France and Japan . None of these 1st generation Americans ever gave any thought about what country their parents had come from. They were Americans fighting Hitler, Mussolini and the Emperor of Japan. They were defending the United States of America as one people.

When we liberated France, no one in those villages were looking for the French American, the German American or the Irish American. The people of France saw only Americans. And we carried one flag that represented one country. Not one of those immigrant sons would have thought about picking up another country's flag and waving it to represent who they were. It would have been a disgrace to their parents who had sacrificed so much to be here. These immigrants truly knew what it meant to be an American. They stirred the melting pot into one red, white and blue bowl.

And here we are with a new kind of immigrant who wants the same rights and privileges. Only they want to achieve it by playing with a different set of rules, one that includes the entitlement card and a guarantee of being faithful to their mother country.

I'm sorry, that's not what being an American is all about. I believe that the immigrants who landed on Ellis Island in the early 1900's deserve better than that for all the toil, hard work and sacrifice in raising future generations to create a land that has become a beacon for those legally searching for a better life. I think they would be appalled that they are being used as an example by those waving foreign country flags.

And for that suggestion about taking down the Statue of Liberty, it happens to mean a lot to the citizens who are voting on the immigration bill.
I wouldn't start talking about dismantling the United States just yet.

I say; "Just shove that flag up their *** and put um on a train to Guadalajara"

That is an awesome article Steelchip. An omission of note is that when my family immigrated in 55 anyway, you had to have a sponsor who was willing to assist your family with food, shelter, clothing, etc. There was no welfare, only opportunity, which is what made this the greatest country in the world. Exceptional ism is not bad thing lefties. I would say it is a negative only when it is used for evil intentions.

That was a good article. And well written. Immigrants now think everything has to do with racial tensions. They dont realize those who do work legally are getting screwed over in paying higher taxes to those who abuse the system. Idk man. Stuff is easier said than done

It's been around since 2006, but still powerful. Somewhat an urban legend about whether it went down the way described, but most stuff I found validates this was indeed written (Orange County I believe) 10 years ago.

I admire this Iowa congressman's gumption. We're not all bad here in flyover country. There are a lot of really good people. They're trying to change that with their social engineering though. The benefits here are generous enough to spark a migration to our state of a lot of welfare abusing Democrat voters. It has made our state purple unfortunately. The people were done though. Done done. The cities couldn't override the angry rural electorate. Thank the Lord above.

It gets better

Anti-Sanctuary City Bill Filed by Texas State Senator

A Texas state senator has filed a bill to “eliminate Sanctuary Cities in the State of Texas.” The bill will require local governments and law enforcement agencies uphold current immigration laws.

“By electing a Republican president and Republican majorities in Congress, the American people made it clear that solving our illegal immigration crisis must be a priority,” Senator Charles Perry said. “That starts by eliminating sanctuary cities, securing our border, and enforcing the immigration laws we currently have on the books."

The USA Today's headlines today.... "Promises, Promises, Promises"

...about Trump supposedly backing off his promise to build a concrete wall along every inch of the border.

Really?

Would have Obama warranted a headline like this?

Hell no.

The best part of this election cycle is that it further exposed the MSM as corrupt. Only 3 in 10 people now buy their bullshit. They are being mitigated, and as they are being diminished, they get more WTF about what they post and how they broadcast. See MSNBC on Election Night as an example. They are in the tank for the Left and simply no longer hide it.

Yep. The MSM have for the last 8 yrs. have been spreading an illusion. The illusion that conservatism is outdated, dead and inconsequential, and sadly a portion of the public were indeed duped, some of those whom we call the Rinos.

The Origin of Political Correctness

If you wonder where the politically correct malady that afflicts America came from, Boston University professor emeritus Angelo M. Codevilla has the answer.

"The notion of political correctness came into use among Communists in the 1930s as a semi-humorous reminder that the Party's interest is to be treated as a reality that ranks above reality itself," Dr. Codevilla writes in the Fall 2016 issue of the Claremont Review of Books.

Dr. Codevilla indicates that the politically correct directive began word-of-mouth as a running joke that communists told each other that went like this:

"Comrade, your statement is factually incorrect."

"Yes, it is. But it is politically correct."
